For example, an actor could be wearing bright red to stand them out from the muted colours in the background, or to remove focus off a character, you can give them similar colours as the background. Colour stylisation affects storytelling and helps to lull audience's eyes to where in the footage that they are intended to see.

Orange Teal Hollywood Blockbuster look is commonly used as it looks best on human skin. Over time, triatic and tetratic colour schemes were used more. But more does not necessarily mean better as many films used less colours to bring prominence to them and give those colours a stronger feel.

Focusing on specific lightness or saturations can produce a stunning cinematic effect by itself. This can be seen notably in films thaf focuses on neon colours. Neon colours mostly fit into the aesthetics of monochromatic compositions. However, the lack of gentleness brought by this effect creates a harsh and unnatural feel to the footage. This fits very well in films that have violent and uncaring plots.

The pastel aesthetics give a relaxed feeling to the film. Odd colours that are not typically used, greatly aid in making the visuals of a film standout, though it is difficult.

By suppressing the colour palette and averting from the colour red, we get the muted colour palette which can be used to give the film a very desaturated look. This style goes with post-apocalyptic scenes, or general cold, serious, unforgiving aesthetic to films.

A darker yet very saturated style of the standard colour palette is known as the jewel palette. It brings forth a rich, gorgeous, and supple look, yet still a natural look. This can be used in scenes where nobles are included in. Yet, it can be used to make certain scenes in films very symbolic or giving strength to them because the colours are very prominent. It emphasises on the colours which can give more emotion to the scene, like how green can be associated with disgust or irony and red represent anger. Stronger, more prominent colours mean more emotion or symbolism.

Colour grading and colour correction are similar processes in editing, however, they differ in the intent and the methods. While colour grading is more focused on conveying the filmakers' intent when it comes to the atmostphere or style, in order to fit the intended ambiance and effect of the film, Colour correction is more to ensure that the colour stays consistent across the films, making things look more natural and in some cases also giving the film an overall lean towards the theme, however not as stylistic or intentional as colour grading.

Colour grading varies widely in style, from pastel aesthetics to monotone, to black&white with specific parts coloured, and all of them serve different purposes in the film, with them generraly enhancing the film in conjunction with the other parts of the film. Saturation, exposure, tints, and hues also are part of the process, as filmmakers might elect to set the saturation different for varying effects, or to draw attention to particular parts of the film, and a variety of other purposes

Experts/experienced filmmakrs are able to use these methods to deepen the experience of the film, as viewers are induced to look deeper into the film or be more immersed in the film through unique stylisation methods.

On the other hand, colour grading is a creative process that stylises the footage to achieve a specific mood, tone or visual identity. Filmmakers often work with a controlled and limited colour palette to deliberately guide the audience’s attention.

For instance, an actor may be dressed in a bright red outfit to stand out against a muted or neutral background which draws the viewer’s eye instantly. Conversely, if the intention is to reduce focus on a character, the colours can be matched closely with the surrounding environment. Through intentional colour stylisation, filmmakers enhance storytelling by subtly directing the audience’s gaze and shaping how a scene is perceived emotionally and visually.

It can create high contrast, visual energy and mood, making subjects pop and scenes feel dynamic or emotionally charged

6.Triadic and tetradic colour scheme. It creates high-impact atmospheres which can offer more complexity than complementary schemes.

7.Neon colour palette has been on a rise in the 21st century and allows for bold energy.

Colour correction is to ensure that the footages used are natural and consistent. It focuses on balancing the colours while also correcting the exposure of the footages. It also allows them to editors to match the footages to the previous footage so it stitches together seamlessly. Colour grading, in my understanding, refers to a form of style editing. It’s more of an artistic choice to bring the footage or scene alive. It makes the audience feel a certain way and focus on certain things with colour grading. Faded and washed out colours are often used to depict vintage and retro vibes as they feel nostalgic like old photos. While deep and muted colours are often used to create a moody or dark atmosphere. Adding a blues, green or grey tones have been proven effective for horror or mystery movies. Colour correction is needed to ensure the shots progress smoothly, while colour grading plays a big part in setting the atmosphere of the movie.

In this lesson I learnt that colour correction itself ensures the natural look of the footage and making it look more accurate, this is done by adjusting tweaks like white baancng temperature exposure, saturation and brightness. Colour gradng however, is to achieve a specific mood and feel for the scene or whole movie. For instance, in the block buster movies, the colour padlette uses more of the orange and blue tones to closely display the skin colour for humans. and for post apocoplyptic films, they give it a muted look by dialing down the saturation of the colours. These are many more iterations of how to color grade but the main focus on it is to create a mood and engage your audience by adding more effect here and there by introducing one colour more than the other.
