Te Hanh's poem "In My Village" from our core text, Voices Nearby the Anthology shows us how a community and village can live in peace when they may not have many resources. Throughout the poem Hanh uses imagery to create an image in our mind of what this village looks, sounds and smells like. A few strong imagery quotes are "The shimmer og blue water, silvery fish, lime-washed sails." and "I dream the smells, rough, salty, keen." Hanh has used descriptive language to make us feel like we are actually in the village. "In My Village" has shown us that tranquillity can be found in the smallest places and that the way someone describes something, we can get a sense of what their culture is.
