On of these reasons is what they are made of. Pennies are made up of copper, which we use for many things like electrical wire and even the Statue of Liberty. If we use all the copper up, especially for little coins, we will be in danger, as we will have to find another material to use in wires. Also, it’s just not valuable enough. They are a waste of copper, first of all. Second, they are only worth 1 cent. That’s only 1/100 of a dollar! However, if we got rid of pennies, the economy would suffer a bit until it can adapt to the change of currency. There will be many holes in payments. For example, what if you need change for something you bought in pennies? If this were to happen, the entire prices of everything would have to change which would alter the economy. Unless everyone used their credit cards. That would bring their credit score down which would ruin the economy even more. Right now, the economy isn’t doing that great as well. There is a Wall Street crisis, and the stocks are dropping by many points. Getting rid of pennies would not help at this time.

Cause I sure wouldn’t. People might also want to get rid of pennies becuase there only 1 cent, and you need a 100 pennies to make one dollar. You could just carry 1 dollar a round which is a strip of paper instead of carrying around 100 pennies which are made of copper. Holding 100 pennies is heavy, but holding a strip of paper isn’t even heavy. People might think the penny is worthless.
