The similarities are that almost the whole world has tried to help the innocent, and the fact that people were being driven away from where they once lived. it started in 1994 where Rwanda was composed of 3 ethnic groups, including Hutus, tutsi’s and twas.800,000 tutsis and moderate Hutus were slaughtered by a Hutu government. He made a plan to kill the tutsies and anyone who opposed his policies.The UN responded by requesting more troops to be sent out to keep the peace between the Hutus and Tutsis but was denied. General Dallaire pleaded for more support from the UN but was rejected once again.In Rwanda many of the Tutsis had to flee and go to a more safer place, just like many people in the Holocaust did.This civil war officially ended with the signing of the Arusha Accords, a power-sharing agreement, in August 1993.

The Republic of the South was going against the rest of South Sudan . South Sudan is now on the brink of what is legally called genocide. An all out ethnic war is happening and it is getting closer and closer to genocide. Nothing has physically happened yet but the world is talking about the threat this possesses  for example UN Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide, Adama Dieng, warned of the risk of “all out ethnic war” with the potential to escalate into genocide. 3.6 million people have been displaced and the UN has opened up peacekeeping base’s to help fleeing civilians.

Background: 
During WW2, armed militias targeted people an d commiting crimes against them. For example, Croats collaborated with Nazi's in Germany to eradicate Serbs, Roma or gypsies and Jews. Later, Yugoslavian President, Josip Tito, governed very strictly and kept ethnic and racial tensions under control. However, he died in 1980 and everything went into chaos. After that, people began to want independence. A great sense of nationalism began to sweep the nation and got stronger as Serbian leader, Slobadom Milosevic came to power. The genocide started around 1991, It all happened because the country began to break up and the nation became divided. They are facing discrimination violence and ethic cleansing. In response to this event The Simon Skjodt are monitoring the conditions in Burma to prove it is genocide.
