A focus group can be used as a research method to gather your target audiences opinions on the topic you are discussing. You can also find out there attitude to the thing that is being discussed. This can be many things like, products, services or different concepts. A company can use a focus group to gather audience feedback on a product or a new product that have created. They can also find out the service before they decide to take the idea in full development.

The producers of Deadpool would use a focus group to find out how there target audience would react to a film like Deadpool because the film is different to other in it genre. The genre is superhero but it is different as was the first mainstream superhero film rated R therefore there was blood and a lot more swearing. Also the character of deadpool is different than batman as deadpool knows he is in a film therefore breaks the fourth wall, talking directly to audience. Therefore the producers need to know what the audience thinks before they release the film.

This is huge as the film was made for $58,000,000 therefore it made a profit of over $700,000,000 this is huge for a film like Deadpool as it was different to other superhero films, so this would tell the producers that people loved the film and it was well liked worldwide therefore they would know to make another film.

A survey and questionnaire is when a company will make a form with specific questions about the product they are making, they will ask questions that they want to find out about the film. They will send the questionnaire out to the public. To do this they may put it on the internet and social media. They may also put it in magazines, this is a quick and easy way to get the audiences response on the film you are making.

On my survey I only asked 3 questions therefore I wasn't able to get a lot of responses and replies to the things that I wanted to find out. On the 3 questions that was answered, they was all multiple answers therefore I wasn't able to get a good explanation from the people who took my survey and also why they chose these answers.

In the Deadpool trailer we see different features and themes that can suggest it is aimed at a male audience one of these features is the jokes that are constantly made throughout the trailer the biggest joke aimed at a male audience is when Deadpool sniffs the smoke coming out of his gun at the end of the trailer and saying the phrase "I'm touching myself tonight." Which is a joke aimed at the male audience. There is also a lot of swearing throughout the trailer as well which is associated with an action film and this can be aimed at the male audience. When you think about films that are aimed at a female audience you don't usually see swearing in the trailer. You also don't see blood in female based film trailers but in the Deadpool trailer there is a lot of blood and gore. Also the film trailer can be aimed to a male audience because it is a superhero film and superhero's a re usually associated with males.

In the trailer things that could appeal to the female audience is that we see Deadpool girlfriend in the trailer and them kissing and having sex. The film has also been advertised as a love story this could appeal to the females as love stories are usually associated with females. Also the main actor in the film is Ryan Reynolds which is a strong male character, they could appeal to the female audience because he is good looking. An example of this is when we see Ryan Reynolds shirtless and we see his good looking body which would also appeal to the female audience.

In one scene we see Deadpool shooting and killing different guys with his swords showing the brutal scenes in the trailer. At the end of the trailer we also see hashtags and links to different social media websites which links to the younger audience who use social media more than the old generation. Also in the film the characters are fairly young, which appeals to a younger audience.

We also see the main male character and female character in a relationship. The two characters have an heterosexual relationship which would appeal to the straight audience watching the trailer. There is also aspects of the trailer that appeal to an gay audience with the character Megasonictennagewarhead as she is also gay and looks different to the other women that we see throughout the trailer.

The Hypodermic Needle Model Theory is when the a product can have an effect on the people that are watching or playing the product. The media messages are injected into the audience brain. Then the audience are influenced by media text and do not question what they are being told by the product. The theory is usually used most in advertising, the audience are expected to take on messages and be influenced by the slogans. The negative thing about the theory is that the model displays how audiences can be easily influenced in some cases people can become desensitised by what they see in the media.

Theme
The theme of the action scene in Deadpool would be revenge as well as good vs evil. As we see Deadpool killing Ajax's henchmen to get to Ajax. We also see good vs evil as at the end of the scene we see Ajax dangle Deadpool love interest Vanessa off the boat to mock Deadpool that he has her and Deadpool doesn't.

Iconography
In the fighting scene we see different probs with Deadpool using 2 swords to kill Ajax's henchmen. We also see the henchmen using guns in the scene. There is also different probs in the scene with old pieces of metal being used for Wade to jump on to catapult himself to Ajax.

Typical Situations
In fighting scenes like this we usually see blood and gore. This fighting scene is the same we see Deadpool killing the henchmen with his two swords in this case it is different as Deadpool uses there body parts after he kills them, for example he cuts someones head off and then kicks it like a football to another henchman which injurers him. Another typical situation in these scenes is that the hero always wins and defeats the villains, this scene is the same with Deadpool killing all the henchmen.

Stock Character

In this scene we see 4 stock character. The first stock character is the hero of the story which is Deadpool. Another stock character is the villain in the story in this scene it is Ajax. He is the main threat that is in the film and this scene. We see another stock character which is the damsel in the film this is Vanessa who has captured by AJAX. The last stock character in the scene is the henchman who are the usually villain army.

Setting
The setting in this scene is an junkyard with many pieces of rusting metal. We also see many old ships with old crates on them. We can see the rust on the metal and the ships showing that it has been there for some time and has not been cared for.

Camera shots/Angles
In the scrapyard scene we see a lot of medium camera shots this helps to show the action that it is happening in the scene and the different things happening in that one scene. Another shot we see is the slow motion shots in the scene when we see Deadpool cut of someones leg and then cut of someones head and then kick it at someones head. This is used so the audience can see the gore and damage that Deadpool is doing to his enemies. At the end of this scene we see a high angle shot when we see Deadpool put all of the bodies together to spell out the word Francis, the high angle shot is used so the audience can fully see the word that Deadpool has spelled out.

Editing Techniques
An editing technique that is used in the Deadpool scene is the slow motion technique, this is used so that the audience can see what Deadpool is doing to his enemies and the different way he kills and decapitates them. There is also CGI used in this scene at the end when Deadpool runs to get launched up to Ajax they use the CGI for Deadpool and the explosions around him, this is to make this scene more life threatening and exciting to the audience.

Lighting Techniques
All of the scene uses natural lighting as the scene is set outside and has sunlight thought out the scene. This is so the audience can see everything happening in the scene.

Audio Codes
At the start of the scene we hear the bullets bouncing of colossus metal body. This adds more detail into the scene. We also hear a backing track in the scene which is a fast beat making the scene more intense and exciting for the audience. We then see colossus throw a tire at some of the henchmen, we hear the audio of people screaming when they get hit by the tire. We then hear Deadpool's sword cutting though the henchmen bones and the sound of the blood popping out of the leg and veins. This helps to add to the detail of the scene and make it more believable to the audience.

Colour Connotations in costumes
mega sonic - black and yellow - warning - bee seen as harmless can leave string
henchmen wearing black - menacing
In the scene we see everyone wearing different coloured outfits the outfits all represent different things. We know that the black henchmen belong to Ajax and the black colouring of them show an menacing look and evil.
Deadpool has a red suit which he quotes in the film and says he wears it so the villains can't see when he bleeds. He also wears a red suit because of his source material as he wears the red suit in the comics.

Representation of Women

Positive:
In the Deadpool film there are aspects were the women are represented in a positive way. For example they show Angel (Ajax's Henchman) as a strong woman who can fight and stand up for herself. We see her fighting colossus, one of the heroes in the story and holding her own against him. Therefore the film shows her as a strong women. The film also shows a lesbian teenage girl. She has a shaved head, with no make up showing that she isn't going to appeal to the male audience. They also have Vanessa who is the beauty in the film and the sex icon for the male audience. Each of the 3 women characters represent different things in the film, one is strong, one is lesbian and one is the sex icon.

Negative
Vanessa in the film is mostly used to have sex with Wade Wilson and to be a sex icon for the male audience. She is also used as a damsel in distress and that she needs . male to save her in all the problems she gets herself into.

The narrative of Deadpool is an hero's quest with the main hero (deadpool) set to save his girlfriend (Vanessa) from Ajax. The story is Non -Linear because at the start of the film we see deadpool fighting on a bridge against Ajax, at this time we don't know who Deadpool or Ajax is. After this scene deadpool has flashbacks to how he was made and became Deadpool. Therefore the bridge scene that we started with is actually the middle part of the film therefore the story is Non-Linear

Propp Characters
Hero - Wade Wilson
- Sent out on a quest to go and save Vanessa
-Follow his story throughout the film. We see from his point of view.
-Wade is also a likeable character with his funny charm

Villian - Ajax
- Villian in Wade's hero quest
- He is the opposite to deadpool with no charm and a bland personality
- At the end of the film he is a taught a lesson by deadpool by defeating him

Princess - Vanessa
- Needs saving from the hero in the story
- The villain uses her in his final plan

Helper - Dopinder
- Aids deadpool on his quest by taking him to different locations to stop the villain and save the princess.

Donor - Negasonic Teenage Warhead
- She has powers in the film that help to aid the hero on his quest.
- At the end she helps the hero with her powers to launch him to the villain.

The Father - Colossus
- At the end of the quest offers the hero a chance to join there team as a reward for getting Ajax.

Dispatcher - Weasel
- Tells the hero about the princess and how the villain has kidnapped her
- Sends the hero on a quest to save the princess from the villain

False Enigma -

Recruiter

- Tells the hero how he can get treatment to help to cure him
- The treatment he promised him was fake and turns into the villain torturing him.

Enigma Code

- An Enigma Code in the film is Deadpool and we never understand why he has the power, we understand how he got the powers but not why he had them.

- Another Enigma Code in deadpool is at the end deadpool goes to kill one of Ajax's henchmen but then stops and knows him by his first name and calls him "Bob" we never know how they know eachother before this encounter.

- Another Enigma Code in the film is how Ajax and Angel dust met before they became the villeins in the deadpool movie.

In the film we see Deadpool and Ajax being the binary oppositions of each other with good vs evil in the story. In the story deadpool needs Ajax to go on his journey and become the hero of the story and Ajax needs deadpool to be the villain and evil in the story.
