I think this could help me in writing because I will know to write and different writing abilities to help me, in school and at home. I also discovered that when you face a fear you get braver. I know that I am really brave so I also know now that I have faced a lot of my fears that maybe I didn't know about. This helps me at school because it allows me to get stronger with my writing.

I discovered that if you challenge your brain, you can learn more, even if you make mistakes, you still learn from the challenge. How can stretching and shaping my brain help me grow? Well, to stretch your brain, you need to learn more and challenge your brain. So, what am I going to do in Writers Workshop? Learn more, and challenge myself. Why? Because I want to have a more elastic, fantastic brain. So what I need to do is work hard, challenge myself, and be BRAVE. If you think about it, the brain needs to grow stronger as well as your muscles, even though the brain isn't a muscle, and it doesn't work like one, it needs to grow stronger like one. So I need to learn, learn, learn!

I discovered that if you try really hard to learn something new, connections grow from neurons and attach to other neurons. I also learned that making mistakes is the best way that stretches your brain and makes it grow. I also thought that it was really cool to learn that your brain controls everything you do, think, remember, and especially dream. Another cool fact about your brain is that your brain stretches when you overcome your fears. One last fact is that the more you practice, the more your brain remembers and the easier the job is to do.

Stretching your brain helps you in writers workshop by making mistakes in your writing. When you make mistakes in your writing pieces, the better writer your brain becomes and you become. When you are challenged by yourself, and you overcome that challenge, your brain stretches and becomes bigger and better.

Especially as a writer. :) I have also learned hat the hippocampus is like a filling cabinet. It's what helps me find memories and ideas that had before.

Because of this lovely book, my brain is really stretched today. The brain gets more elastic every time you learn something new. My brain must be VERY stretchy by now after almost 12 years. When you are trying to remember something and you just can't get what you are trying to say, it probably means that your neurons haven't found each other yet. Every time you give up, you aren't learning more. The harder you try without giving up, the more you learn.

This will help me grow as a writer because it will give me the strength to talk to the class about why I wrote this story and reading it aloud to the class. It also will give me more time to really learn more about writing so that I can connect Neurons from the brain to other Neurons

I also learned that your brain has sections that do different jobs. Some may store things that happened or learned, some may help you remember things, and some may connect memories that you have stored within your brain. I think this will help me with my writing by giving me new ideas to write about. Some of the things that I would write about is personal experiences so that the things that I've learned will be written down.

When we read this book I learned a lot about our brains. You are you because of your brain. That says that everyone is different and no 2 people will be the same. I also learned that it controls your dreams. Your brain gets stronger as you grow. That shows that by writing we can strengthen our brain. Neurons also connect when you build on things you know. That shows you get more neurons and become smarter by learning how to do things better. If you make a mistake your brain actually grows. That is because it knows what not to do and it can narrow it down to what to do. So overall I think this will help in writing because if we spell a word wrong or something we will strengthen our brain and become smarter.

I learned that the brain is an organ that is made up of cells and tissue, and that the brain controls most of your body. Neurons can help you in writing because when you want to remember a story or a personal narrative, the neurons help you with that. All parts of your body can stretch and make you smarter then before. Different parts of your brain work together to get smarter, its almost like if a kid doesn't know a math problem another kid could help him get the right one. When you try hard to learn something new, connections grow from neurons and attach to other neurons. I know this may sound weird but, when you make a mistake it helps your brain out a lot and makes it smarter, and making mistakes is actually one of the best things that you could do for your brain. Something that could help you with Writers Workshop is the neurons because they tell you what to do because what ever you write, is made by the neurons.

The brain helps us in many ways while being a writer. For example, one thing that I learned was the Amygdala. This part of the brain helps control your emotions to different things. I also learned about Prefrontal Cortex, which helps with decision making, the Hippocampus, which is in the middle of the brain and helps with memory, he Cerebrum, which is the biggest part of the brain and can help you think about different things, the cerebellum, which helps your coordination, and the neurons in your brain, which connects to different things. Did you know that "Neuro" means something about the brain or a part of the brain? I also learned that when being younger, it's better to learn more things because the brain develops and changes very fast in the first 10 years of your life. Also, if you make more mistakes, the brain can stretch and can work better, but if you don't risk anything and if you never face your fears, the brain can't grow as much as you thought it would. Overall, I believe that this can be connected to Writing because if you don't try, risk, and make mistakes, then for one, writing wouldn't be as fun as it is, and for two, you would never grow as a writer. This is what I've learned about the brain and how it connects with writing!

I also thought neurons were really fascinating too, because when something's on the tip of my tongue I know that the neurons in my brain are trying to find and connect to each other! Now, how I am going to stretch my brain in Writer's Workshop, is that I am not going to be afraid to make mistakes. My brain being stretched and shaped helps me as a writer by teaching me new things that I can use in my writing it also helps me by showing me my mistakes and being able to fix them to make me a better writer. I also learned that it is important to be wrong! So you can fix it. Learn from it. Be a better you!

There are many thing's that stretching my brain can help me with, and so I think it is important to stretch your brain so that you can have more brain capacity. Stretching my brain will also help me with connecting my neurons better.

Your brain can do so many things. Did you know that your brain face fears for you and when you walk up to something you were afraid of your brain helps you face the fears so you don't have to. "Your brain lets you think and remember and name things you see and hear." I knew that your brain is made of so many parts and all the parts contribute in the working of your fantastic elastic brain."The first ten years of your life your brain is continually growing." My brain helps me grow as a writer in the way of helping me remember bits and pieces of the story and helps my continually learning new and exciting parts of the story. It is also helpful because it helps me with making mistakes and fixing them but just a look at it also tells us what is a good part to write about and what you don't need to put in the piece. ."Your brain is made up of cells and tissue." Our brains are able to stretch not in the way of our brains over flowing and flooding with to much information, but in the way of storing more and more in our brains to give us more information on the topic that we choose or desire."Even when you make a mistake your brain is still growing and growing more and more."," Making mistakes is one of the best ways your brain can grow.","Learning something new causes the brain to grow new connections to neurons ."It shows how much we actually learn each and every day, it is pretty amazing. I think it is also really cool that ,"When you learn something new it stores that information with the old information that you already new." I find it cool that your brain does so much for you and nobody really even realizes it I think that is really cool. In conclusion your brain is amazing and never doubt the power of your brain, you can always rely on your brain to help you out a bit. Your brain controls your emotions and helps you control them. Without your brain we would be as smart as we are we wouldn't be as content as we are today we would be us. Our brain pretty much is our whole entire world. There is no end to what our brain can do.

After hearing about "Your Fantastic Elastic Brain" by JoAnn Deak Ph. D, I now know so much about my brain. A couple of amazing things that I learned about my brain is, when you were born you were very small, so you didn't really know anything about the world yet. Your brain was so small and not as strong as adults brain are. But as you get older, and older, your body grows and your brain starts developing these things, you see, touch, feel, it basically becomes more stronger. So people say that they know a whole lot of things about their brains but, I don't think that they know that many things like, your brain isn't really a muscle it's actually an organ, made up of cells and tissues. Everybody ends up making the mistake of thinking that their brain is really a muscle instead of a organ. If you don't know that, than I think you should research it. Theirs whole lot that I've got to learn about my brain, in just so little of time. Like there's 5 different parts of your body. One of those 5 different parts stuck out to me, the Amygdala because, well since it's an emotional part that is tightly packed with group cells deep, in the center of your brain. This made me think of all the emotional stuff that I feel, and think. I thought about all the emotional things that I've been through and just thought, that your Amydala can make you feel any kind of way, just by what you see.

Although I already knew a few things about my brain, I learned so much more. A couple of things I learned was that the first ten years of your life are the most important for your brain to row, different parts of your brain work together to complete different activities, and your Amygdala, can remember your "fears", so you might not be as scared next time. Something I learned that will help me as a writer is that mistakes are one of the best ways to learn. I, myself am not one to make mistakes, nor do I like making them, especially because of the "perfectionist" trait I see in myself much too often. While sometimes I do take risks, it is sometimes hard because I know that I might make a mistake, and mistakes are not acceptable for Meg! While mistakes are one of the best ways to learn, I might need to teach myself that, in order to succeed a little more by taking risks in writing, and again, make mistakes whether I like it or not. Another thing I learned that may help me as a writer is that neurons are connections, and will help you remember things. I've always had a great memory and love learning, so I might not have to work on it quite as much. But connections are what helps grow your brain, make new ideas, and help you on things like, for example, on demand writing periods or any test in general, inside writing or out. By doing this, I can also remember writing techniques I learned in class or from books I've read, and apply them to my own writing to make them better. And with a better understanding of my brain, I may be able to take some more risks in writing, and, of course if you know me, list off facts to my friends like nobody's business. But with the risks I may take now, I could end up with awesome results.

Something I learned about the brain today that really stood out to me is that when you make a mistake, your brain will remember not to do that again because it didn't work. Your brain will remember that it didn't work and will try new ways until you succeed. I also learned that making mistakes is one of the best ways for your brain to grow and learn. This is going to help me in writing because if Mrs. Reuter asks me to try something different for what I'm trying and it doesn't work, then I can try again and will remember not to do that again. Another thing that stood out to me was that every time I learn something new, my neurons will grow more connection and if I didn't already learn that then I will grow a new neuron. This will help me in writing because every time I learn something new in writing I will remember it and if I already learned about it, then it would be easy for me to remember. I also learned that when I was born my brain wasn't as strong as it is now because I hadn't learned how to do anything, but the next 10 years of my life were the strongest learning points in my life. This will help me as a writer because I now know that it I am the smartest version of myself that I will ever be and I will never have to try and be any smarter then I already am.

In the book your Fantastic Elastic Brain by JoAnn Deak, I learned about different part's of your brain and neurons. There is exactly 5 different parts of your brain. But the Hippocampus really stuck out to me. The Hippocampus, is were all your memory goes. That seemed really interesting to me because that means all of the things I know are inside of my head. I also realized that the Hippocampus really helps you as a writer to remember the things you learned. Then I realized once you learn something new you get a new Neuron. I really wonder how many Neurons do you get each day? Neurons happen a lot to me in Writing because you can find different ways to write things. I also learned the everyday quote "You learn from your mistakes." Is actually very true. Each time you have a mistake you learn from it and learning from that mistake causes you to get more connections with the Neurons. That taught me to not be afraid of mistakes because in the end you learn from that mistake. Your brain is a BIG part of writing.

If you aren't willing to risk being wrong you wont take any chances to stretch your fantastic elastic brain. I learned that knows most from the age 1-10 that decade is called the magic decade. Stretching my brain and shaping my brain can help me grow as a writer this year because I can expand my vocabulary and learn more on how to be a better writer. One quote that stuck out to me was "Even when you make a mistake while trying something new, your still training your brain". This is important to because it is saying never give up and always learn from your mistakes.

Today I learned that my brain is made out of cells and tissue. The cerebrum helps me think of what is going on in the story and how to talk about different texts. Even while you make a mistake, you are still learning. Another part of the brain helps me make a decision on what to write. Learning something new causes connections in the nuerons. Even reading the book allowed me to connect nuerons!

I reviewed today that my brain has many parts which have important jobs like memory ,emotions, speaking ,walking and many other jobs which my brain performs. Our brain makes you different from others like I like Blue Whales while others might like lions or something else.Without our brain we wont be able to think. In writing your mind decides what your story will be about ,Title ,Lead ,etc. Stores your special moments for personal narratives .Every time you make a mistake you learn from it ,your brain understands what you did wrong and makes a solution even though few times they don't work and then you need to try a new formula .If you give up and stop correcting your mistake you will never learn.Your brain makes you take risks and make a better solution if you didn't do it right on the first time which is really important for the process of learning because making mistakes and then fixing it is the best way to learn.Without our brain we couldn't do any thing we would be like a tree we would not be able to think ,we would be almost useless (even though they have a really important part in nature they cant type, learn , research or anything similar like that).

I leaned that me brain has a thing called a hippocampus. It helps me remember things. I can use this in my writing to help me remember writing strategies. There is also the prefrontal cortex witch lets me make decisions. This can be helpful in writing class because if there is a chance I can use a better word than "ran" I can make the decision to use the words "dashed" or "sprinted."

Today in class we were given the opportunity to learn about our brain. I had already known a few things about the brain, but after reading the book Your Fantastic Elastic Brain by JoAnn Deak, Ph.D I learned A LOT more! It taught me all about the different parts of the brain, which I thought was really interesting because it told me the names and places of the different parts of the brain that help me do things like feel, taste, see, hear, and smell, or feel different emotions. The Amygdala is the part of the brain that allows you to have emotions, such as happy, sad, scared, amazed, etc. Another thing in our brain that I learned more about are neurons. Neurons connect to other neurons whenever you learn something new. They help you connect things and bring in back round knowledge. When I was reading this book I remembered how just the same week I had met a lady that is a therapist and she taught me and some other kids about the human brain. My neurons connected this. This book makes us realize how much our brain really does for us! I When we learn about the brain it can help us to better know what our brain is constantly doing as we write and learn in writer'a workshop. Every time we learn something new it is giving us a broader amount of knowledge on a topic that we can write about. We can also have more back round knowledge and understanding of something we are reading or reasearching. No matter what we are doing, our brain always plays a huge part.

I learned that all parts of your brain stretch when you learn something new. I also learned that making mistakes are the best things that your brain faces and when you make mistakes your brain learns from them. Another part that I learned that neurons are brain cells telling yourself what tot do. Those are some of the things that I learned from the book My Fantastic Elastic Brain. Stretching and shaping my brain helps me grow as a writing by developing the ability to use better language, stronger words, and a better way to put your thoughts into your writing

Stretching your brain can help you as a writer because when you get more neurons you are learning new things and then your vocabulary can expand. You can also have better stamina because you know more about writing. Once you practice something you eventually get very good at it.
