The Post was bought by financier Eugene Meyer at a bankruptcy auction in 1933. Eugene Meyer's son-in-law, Philip Graham took over The Post in 1947 and due to his death in 1963, The Washington Post was taken over by his wife Katharine Meyer Graham.

10,000 copies of the first TWP copies of the newspaper was circulated , at a price of 3 cents containing containing 4 pages. As of 2018, The Washington Post has a circulation of 1,000,000 digitally.
