This semester, I've been all about keeping things honest in my studies, even when it's been tough. Resisting the urge to take shortcuts hasn't been a walk in the park, especially when deadlines are looming. But I've stayed on track, making sure to cite my sources, hand in my own work, and stick to the rules. Now that we're coming to the end of the semester, I'm feeling pretty proud of myself. Yeah, there were moments when I was tempted to bend the rules, but sticking to my guns feels worth it. I'm almost there, and knowing I did it the right way feels pretty good. :)

Question 2: Chapters 8 and 9

Something I found interesting from chapters 8-9 was on section 8.1 “Puberty” on chapter 8, it was interesting reading about the variation in puberty timing among individuals, influenced by factors such as genetics, ethnicity, body weight, and family stress. One interesting point mentioned is the correlation between early puberty and childhood stress, particularly among girls. The section states that intense family stress may trigger physiological mechanisms that accelerate puberty, reflecting the complex interaction between genetics, environment, and individual experiences. This was interesting to me because it explores puberty, a topic that's both universal and deeply personal. It looks at how various factors shape an individuals experiences during this transformative period.

Question 3: Holland test 1 and 2

My results from the Holland Code Quiz showed that I have a dual strength in both the Artistic and Social categories (which I need already hehe). This means I have a unique blend of creativity and empathy, which can be a powerful combination in various career paths. Not only do I possess the ability to think outside the box and bring innovative ideas to life, but I also excel in roles that involve understanding and connecting with others on a deeper level. These results showed the diverse range of career options available to me. From art directing to journalism, from fashion designing to interpretation, there are numerous opportunities where I can channel my passions and skills into meaningful and fulfilling career paths. It's exciting to explore these possibilities and see how I can leverage my interests and strengths to pursue a successful and satisfying career journey.

Question 4: My career path

I'm going into pre-elementary education. I'm passionate about creating a positive learning environment where children feel supported, encouraged, and inspired to reach their full potential. Seeing the spark of understanding light up in a child's eyes when they grasp a new concept is incredibly rewarding to me. Question 5: Ideal Stage

I would argue that early childhood (chapter 5) is the "ideal" stage because of its blend of innocence, curiosity, and rapid cognitive, emotional, and social development. During this stage, children are typically carefree, enthusiastic learners, eager to explore the world around them and form meaningful relationships. The support and guidance provided during early childhood can have a huge and lasting impact on a person's development and well-being throughout their life. I mean who wouldn't want to be a kid again! However, it's important to recognize that each life stage has its own beauty and significance.

Question 6: What I learned

I enjoyed chapter 2 section 2.4 pregnancy and chapter 5 section 5.4 emotional development the most. The two concepts that stood out to me were morning sickness during pregnancy and theory of mind in emotional development. As a woman, learning about morning sickness provided a fascinating insight into its potential evolutionary purpose, such as protecting the embryo from harmful substances. I got a greater understanding to a commonly experienced symptom of pregnancy, showing how the body's responses can serve a protective function during early development. On the other hand, delving into theory of mind was captivating in emotional development. Understanding how children develop an awareness that others possess beliefs and perspectives different from their own showed why and how we think about and interact with others and that was so fascinating. It also highlighted the importance of this milestone in navigating social interactions and understanding human relationships.

Question 7: Constructive Feedback!

I loved that this class mainly revolved around achieve psych it made the class feel organized. Having a central hub for course materials and resources made it much easier to navigate and stay on track with the work. Although, if I could suggest an improvement, I would say for consolidating all assignments onto Achieve Psych. I just felt managing both Achieve and Moodle occasionally posed challenges in keeping up with deadlines and staying organized. Nevertheless, despite this minor inconvenience, I genuinely enjoyed every aspect of this course. It was incredibly informative and engaging, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in it. The wealth of knowledge gained throughout the term has undoubtedly enriched my understanding of psychology, and I'm grateful for the experience.
