If the pupil spelt the word correctly they could continue, should it be misspelt, they missed a turn and write the word 3 times.

The starter was quick and objective reached quickly with free learning involved where the pupils played how they wanted by either cutting out the cards to be spelt or by just covering them up. 
The pupils were involved and engaged from the outset. They were all having fun whilst learning. It was impressive.
The lesson was a low level learning lesson to be completed in 30mins. The transition took a while due to little direction from the teacher. SOLUTION - The idea was to take him back a few steps to gain his confidence with basic mental arithmetic. Within this was addition followed by basic subtraction. We then progressed onto partitioning greater numbers. Then, we moved onto the objective of subtracting 2 digit numbers.

OUTCOME - 'H' improved his arithmetic and skills. Using a fast pace and monitoring his focus levels, I managed to get him into the main part of the lesson and reach the objective. 

ASSESSMENT - 'H' began to understand the relationship between numbers, 10's, in particular and with the use of a number board he appeared more confident.

IMPROVEMENT - Confidence, Arithmetic and Focus/Concentration.

REFLECTION - My inexperience appears to be a weakness in helping 'H' progress passed his difficulties. There is a simple place-value concept he seems to be struggling with that I cannot understand yet. However, by simplifying the concept of subtraction he managed to complete the task and reach the LO. What could have done better? I think learning more of his weakness will enable me to help him further, to do that I need to build his confidence and trust to speak about his concerns.

Pupils need to be engaged by either a 'hook' or their own competiveness. 
However, to control the class, the pupils must realise the importance of authority. The use of sign language as an opera conductor may be a key tool in this. The starter/hook needs to be fun and engaging although it must be managed so the LO is achieved and lesson supported correctly. 

A general concern if this course is knowing when all the course work needs to be uploaded etc. I feel at the moment I'm swimming in a pool of information that has not be put into the correct folders. I do seem to be attempting to implement as many principles as I can however, I have realized a few weaknesses already. 
1) To remember they are just kids and they sometimes need help outside of academic realms
2) Never forget that outstanding practice comes from experience.
3) I may not have enough experience to do the things I want.
4) I must not be afraid of taking a whole class lesson

Not only does it help children with their confidence to discuss their knowledge but it also enables them to value each others work. By finding mistakes in the work of others and highlight the positive elements, children will begin to feel more confident in making mistakes and/or not being afraid to express their opinion. 
Something which really resonated with me today was the teacher introducing ants and how they all work together to better their environment and each other. This encourages the social development children need in an ever changing world, filled with pressures to provide results. Peer assessment has the nature of creativity and it allows children express their creativeness without the interference of adults. 

One thing happened today which really struck me. 'H' had struggled really badly with his maths, this got him quite upset. When his friend 'W' saw this, he came over to him and put his arm over him and told him it was ok, and that he would get it soon. He reassured him and was a good friend to him. Ok, so today I had my first PPA. It went well. I now have 3 lessons to plan for next week Monday. 2 are maths and 1 is English. I actually have 4 lessons next week but 1 is already planned. For maths I have to plan a lesson for pupils to solve problems with addition and subtraction. I also have to plan a lesson so pupils can learn about recognize and name 3-D shapes. Not sure what is happening yet on English lesson as it is quite particular to EAL. E+C have recently moved to the school, previously they spoke mainly French despite naturally being English speakers. 

Strength - Somehow, I feel better today about the course. I feel like I'm now engaged with it more and have a better understanding of where I am going to be heading. I still need to have my mentor meeting however I have decided I just need to crack-on with whats expected of me. I have an idea for a digital resource which is to develop a website for the Europe theme in the winter term. This will sit nicely with everything else and provides a solid foundation for supporting children. 

Weakness - Part of me feels that there is a lot of critical thinking that I still need to develop, in the sense that I don't think about the children and their education but more about me and how I am going to learn about being a teacher. This may be wrong, it may be ok. I don't know, I do hope to find out soon though.

I must be sure to not let Al take too much time from me. However, engaging in the class with more reading was beneficial. Listening to children read is tricky. I never quite know how good they are meant to be. Some kids are clearly better than others, some just need more time to relax. I  read the BFG to the class, that was fun! Also, it would appear my mentor is going to change, probably for the best. I didn't really get to observe too much today and I was more of just a general hand in the classroom. But that's ok.
