The story of hadith jibril

In this hadith, the Angel Jibril (Gabriel) appears to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the form of a man while sitting with his companions and asks several questions to educate them on the essentials of faith.

Islam

Jibril first asks the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) about Islam, to which the Prophet responds with the five pillars of Islam:

1. Declaration of faith (Shahada)

2. Performing prayers (Salah)

3. Fasting during Ramadan (Sawm)

4. Giving charity (Zakat)

5. Pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj
   Iman (Faith)

Jibril then asks about

Iman (faith). The Prophet defines Iman as belief in:

1. Allah (God)

2. His angels

3. His books (scriptures)

4. His messengers

5. The Day of Judgment

6. Divine predestination (Qadr), both good and bad

   
   

Ihsan

When Jibril asks about Ihsan, the Prophet explains it as:

Worshipping Allah as though you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, know that

He sees you.

The Hour (Day of Judgment)

Jibril finally asks about the time of the Day of Judgment. The Prophet responds that neither he nor anyone else knows when it will occur, but he mentions some signs, such as when slaves give birth to their masters and when barefoot, destitute shepherds compete in constructing tall buildings.

1. Belief in Allah (God)

• Muslims believe in the oneness of Allah, the Creator of everything. He is unique, eternal, and has no partners, children, or equals. Belief in Allah involves understanding His absolute authority, mercy, and justice.

2. Belief in Angels

• Angels are spiritual beings created by Allah to carry out His commands. They are without free will and perform specific duties, such as delivering messages to prophets (e.g., Angel Jibril) and recording people's deeds.

3. Belief in Divine Books

• Muslims believe that Allah sent down holy scriptures to guide humanity. These include the Torah (Tawrat), the Psalms (Zabur), the Gospel (Injil), and the Qur'an. The Qur'an is the final and most complete revelation, superseding previous scriptures.

4. Belief in Prophets

• Allah sent prophets to convey His message to humanity. These prophets include figures like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (PBUH). Muhammad is the final prophet, and his teachings are meant to guide all of mankind.

5. Belief in the Day of Judgment

• Muslims believe that all people will be resurrected after death and judged based on their deeds. Those who have done good will be rewarded with paradise, while those who have done wrong will face punishment. This belief emphasizes accountability and justice.

6. Belief in Divine Decree (Qadr)

• Everything that happens, good or bad, is by Allah's will and knowledge. Muslims believe in predestination, understanding that while humans have free will, nothing occurs outside of Allah's plan.

1. Doing good for others.

2. Doing good for others to the best of one's ability.

3. Performing the first two actions for the sake of Allah

There are many of them that are poor and destitute but the rich people are being arrogant and not noticing the people below them. They are competing with each other over who's build the tallest building and not use their ability to help the poor people.

• fasting: when we fast, we feel hungry, the hunger feeling reminds us of our brothers and sisters in Gaza who are also starving

worship purifies soul

• zakat: helps to support and uplift the underprivileged (asnaf)

• salah is the first ibadah that Allah will judge on judgment day, focusing as a foundation of a believer's deeds.

• hence, salah must be performed with the highest and purest sincerity, humility, and complete focus (khusyu') to ensure acceptance and get closer to Allah.

• if we perform salah well, it will become the source of our success and lead to the acceptance of our other good deeds.

• however, if salah is neglected or performed poorly, it may render other deeds meaningless, as salah reflects one's relationship with Allah

1) LOYALTY (taat)

• involves obeying Allah's commands and staying faithful to his guidance.

2) STRUGGLE IN ALLAH'S PLAN (jihad)

• striving to fulfill Allah's plan, whether through personal sacrifice or fighting inner struggles.

3) HUMBLENESS (tawadhu')

• being humble, acknowledging one's limitations, and treating others with respect.

4) REFLECTION (MUHASABAH)

• self-reflection regularly to assess one's actions, seeking and finding life improvement to become a better insan.

5) MODESTY AND SELF RESTRAIN FROM SINFUL BEHAVIOUR (iffah)

• maintaining modesty and self-restrain, avoiding sinful acts and desires.

1. Spiritual Purification

Fasting helps cleanse the soul, reduce sins, and bring one closer to Allah. It strengthens taqwā (God-consciousness), as mentioned in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183).

2. Self-Discipline & Patience

Sawm teaches sabr (patience) by controlling desires and resisting temptations, fostering inner strength and resilience.

3. Empathy & Social Solidarity

Experiencing hunger and thirst increases empathy for the poor and needy, encouraging charity and generosity.

4. Health Benefits

Fasting detoxifies the body, regulates metabolism, and promotes self-control over food consumption, leading to better physical well-being.

5. Strengthening Willpower

It trains the nafs (self) to resist negative habits, such as overeating, gossiping, or engaging in sinful activities.

6. Gratitude & Contentment

Depriving oneself of basic needs temporarily helps develop appreciation for Allah’s blessings.

7. Increased Focus on Worship

With fewer distractions, believers dedicate more time to prayer, Qur’an recitation, and remembrance of Allah.

These wisdoms highlight that sawm is not just about abstaining from food and drink but is a comprehensive means of spiritual and personal development.

One thing I truly appreciate is how professional my Naqibah is in handling our Usrah sessions. She constantly reminds us to turn back to Allah, to seek His forgiveness, and to always rely on Him in everything we do. Her guidance has helped me stay on track, reminding me of the importance of self-reflection and sincere repentance.

More than just attending, I try to be actively involved because I believe Usrah is not just a routine but a journey of self-improvement. Through discussions, reflections, and mutual support, I feel more connected to my faith and more aware of the values I need to uphold as a Muslim. The friendships I have built here are special, they are based on mutual encouragement, sincere advice, and a shared goal of becoming better Muslims.
