In ancient Greece.
When?
The ancient Greeks did the festival which was in 550 before Christ and 220 before Christ.
Who?
A celebration honouring the god Dionysus.
What?
The types of play tragedy, comedy and satyr play.
Who wrote the play?
A man called Sophocles.
Something about him?
He is from Greece, he wrote several other plays e.g Ajax and Oedipus at Colonus. He was also a priest. He was married and had a son named Lophon. He died at 90 year old.
What is the play about?
The play is about two brother who died fighting each other. for the throne. Antigone tries to bury her brother Polyneices.

What type of theatre was it? The theatre was a tragedy.

Where was the people performed in?
The people performed in an outdoor amphitheatre.

Who were the actor
Women were not allowed to preform at all on stage, so all the women were played by men.

1. Strong Starts
A strong starts is a use-able device that can be used in a lot of ways......
1. Blackouts.
2. Loud noises { banging, stumping}.
3. Conflict.{A severe disagreement or emiours fights, {performers come from the audience or argue with the audience}
4.In tears.
5.Other emotion.{excited, annoyed}

2. Convincing Endings
Carry a message, enclosed and united end. Handover a purpose the play we have presented.
I would freeze in position to let the to let the audient know that we have finished.

Point of View
We want the audience to see you the character or actor what you are thinking and what you are going to do in action
4. Baton Passing
Baton passing is another drama device it can be use in a story, an information can be shared, a prop can be passed form character, to develop both plot, a secret and lie.
5. Movement & Physicality
A still image is one of the greatest and effective device, movement it is the same. Great physicality in drama makes the audience remember.
6. Mime & Gesture
Mining and gesture are other devices that are used on stage and on t.v. A mime is when characters are not saying anything and used in still images and with captions.
7. Proxemics
A circle of relationship with the characters with spaces between them [ I love you, I hate you, I am afraid of you]. The audience will see the different between them.
8. Voices
Voices is the most instructing devices in acting and pov because actor can charge their voice.
9. Conscience Alley
The thought alley is to walk through and listion by character and for the audience will get to know the character more better.
10. Body language
When someone want to get into a character they will charge the way they do everything sit, stand and ect. The audience get more engence with character in a meaningful way.
11. Chorus
When the actors on stage repeat the same text, the actors can charage voices also to have meaning.
12. Backstory
Backstory is a bank canvas, so the characters I have created will have a past, present and future.

13. Props&Costume
Props and costume are important device because the actors need the props to act. The props and costume are light, space and levels, the props can also make the characters have proxemic with the object.

14. Multi-role

When a performers has different role in the perfumes.

15. Semiotic
Semiotic are different signs pointing towards the audience in order of explanation on stage, the character is holding and running away from a bank with a bag fulled with money.

16. Cross-cutting
Cross-cutting is when the play or movie has non chronological order.

17. Flash back-forward
To display a mini play of the character's history.

18. Plot

A plot is what make the audience stay. The plot must have a start, middle and end.

Which university course did you find most appealing to you?
Why?
I was thinking about going to Staffordshire University because I could develop Drama skills there on the course. The name of the course is Drama and Theatre studies.
The content of the course is 'play productions, documentary work and applied theatre' also 'working as actors, writers, director etc. First

Conservatoire ( Drama school)
I was also thinking about going to Cambridge School of visual Performing Arts. This is the website' https://www.csvpa.com/' . The name of the course is 'classical & Contemporary Acting Foundation'.
The content of this course is in two parts, part one is dealing with exploring your emotions and how to use them in performance. And part two is more about technique, such as developing your voice for singing and also projecting your voice to deliver dialogue, and learning lines etc.

I searched, 'All the World's a Stage', and that took me to a website called, 'Poets.com' which mentioned Shakespeare's 'As you like it', because that is the famous play that the quote is from. See link below to website:

This was when the class went to the South bank of the river Thames in Waterloo.
We started to walk along but not in ta group, we were spaced apart so it look like we did not know each other. Then slowly we began to stop and look up, we were all staring at the same spot. Passer-by began to stop and ask what we were staring at, and we continued to star.

We were trying to make the public react. We were standing on a bridge and we were trying to be disruptive withthe public, so what we did is pose for a photo on a footbridge and the person who was taking the photo stood on one side pointing the camera at our group on the other side. He was not really taking the photo but the public thought he was so politely waited and waited and waited! Until, eventually they just walked past.

Oedipus has just died in Colonus .Prior to the beginning of the play Antigone's brothers died fighting on opposite sides in the war. Antigone and her sister return to Thebes to try and avoid the prophecy that their brothers will kill each other in battle. (Throne of Thebes) They find out both when they arrive that both are already dead. Their uncle has banned Antigone from giving their brother Polynices a proper burial. Ismene does not think Antigone should break the law.Antigone is going to bury him anyway. So she does. A guard tells Creon the body has been blessed and buried. Creon is angry telling the guard he must find out who did it. So the guard comes and tells him it was Antigone. She was caught by the watchman giving her brother the last rites. Creon questions Antigone and she does not say no. She criticises him about the wrongness of the acts and she says she was right to ignor it. Antigone thinks she was right to bury her brother. Then Creon is angry with Antigone. Creon sees Ismene upset and suspects she was involved as well. Ismene tries to confess to the crime wishing to die along side her sister. She does not want Antigone to die alone but Antigone says no you are not going to die. I am going to die for this.
Creon declares that Antigone and Ismene will be put in jail for time. Haemon Creon's son and Antigones fiance enters. To start with he says he supports his father but then he tries to persuade his father to save Antigone. He says the whole city is crying for her. They end up fighting. Creon says he will kill Antigone in front of Haemon. The son leaves saying "Dad I never want to see you again". The King decides to save Ismene but to bury Antigone alive in a cave. By not killing her directly he thinks the gods will forgive him. The guard takes her away to her living tomb. She feels sad instead of angry now and upset that she didn't get to marry Haemon. The chorus say they are sad for Antigone. Then a new character Tiresias a blind prophet enters. He says "Look the Gods are mad at you because you haven't buried Polyneices". Creon says no to the prophet and claims Tiresias is dishonest. Tiresias says he will loose his son, because hes putting Antigone in the ground and because he left Polyneices un-buried. The people of Greece will all hate him. The leader of the Chorus begs Creon and finally Creon agrees and leaves to bury Polynieces and free Antigone. The messenger comes with a letter saying Antigone has killed herself. Eurydice, Creons wife and Haemons mother, says "whats happened?". The messenger says that when Creon got there having buried Polynieces first Antigone had already hung herself. Haemon was there and tries to stab his father unsuccessfully and then stabs himself. Eurydice leaves after hearing this. Creon comes back carrying his son. He now knows that these events were created by him. A second messenger comes and tells him Eurydice has also killed herself. With her last words she cursed Creon. Creon is still the king at the end but has acted against the gods and lost his family. He condemns himself, the Chorus leader says the Deities condemn the conceited but suffering brings understanding.

We showed what we did in the shower or bath. We then added speed and pace to the piece that we preformed. For my 30 seconds I feel that it was not realistic because I was rushed into doing the work. I think the less time we did the exercise, the less movement I did.
For the Three Minute exercise I was not rushed into doing the exercises, so the pace that we did it was slower. So when we were 'Washing our Bodies', we could do more movement because we had more time. And so we could add more stuff to what we normally do in the shower or bath.

Just Being

Reflect on your experience of 'just being' and reflect on watching others 'just be'.
In this exercise we all sat in a room and took it in turns to stand in front of everybody. I took my turn standing there and everyone was looking at me and then gave their feed-back and comments about me. I had to stand still and I felt okay about it, but It made me feel very 'present'.
Other classmates took their turn and felt various emotions, like uncomfortable, unsteady, embarrassed etc.

First we put all our shoes in the middle of the room. Then I tried on Filipa's sandals and everyone wore somebody else's shoes. We walked around in a circle to see how we felt.
I felt different and elegant in Filipa's sandals. Natalie tried on my shoes, they were black patent with high-heels, and she said they make her feel 'Fake' because she usually wears trainers.

How did your presence change?
My presence change by who's shoes I was wearing at the time. For example, when I was wearing boys shoes I walked more like a man. When I was wearing Filipa's sandals I felt more womanly.
So I feel that wearing different shoes changes my character in a way. s

What have you learnt about yourself and presence? (If you use words like... uncomfortable, awkward, weird - they must be explained as to why you felt this away.)

At first when I was standing in front of everyone, I felt nervous because I was not quite used to it. But then I thought, 'Why am I nervous'? I could see all my friend's faces looking at me, and then I became more comfortable.
We only had to stand there for a couple of minutes, which was fine when the others did it, but when it was my turn it seemed like an eternity!

Reflect on the exercises. What is the difference between speed and 0tempo?
Drew asked us to make up steps to do as the exercise. So I did four steps forward and jumped on the spot, then four steps to the left then jumped on the spot. I then repeated it back to my starting point. We repeated this exercise at different Tempos.

Tempo is the speed that we did the exercise at, sometimes we did it fast and sometimes we did it slow. We used a Metronome to mark the time. The time is measured in, 'Beats per minute' (B.P.M.)
Rythmn is the way a piece 'Feels'.

What is Unit-ing

The purpose of uniting a script is so.....(hint- it makes it easier for the actor because...to see action and make action, add new unit to every time there is change in ideas, or event or the character mood.
An objective is what the character does.
A protagonist is a character who is lead or most important part in a play, novel, film ect.
Someone who always win and make the key decision also the character have to overcome stages
in a difficult life that the character ,may have or have not want to do, like Antigone.
Antigone is a protagonist because she made a key decision to bury her brother.

Part 1 - Breathing

What exercises did you do and what is the purpose of each?

We began the vocal warm-up by laying down with our backs to the floor, breathing in for 8 seconds through the nose and out for 8 seconds exhaling through the mouth. We repeated this several times to help expand the stretch and open our lungs.

Part 2 - Sound Production

Next, adding onto the breathing, we then began to hum and pronounce different sounds like O's and R's several times.
This was to help loosen up the throat and chest muscles by using resonance to our advantage, allowing the sound to resonate in our chests.

And finally, we went through a series of tongue twisters and used a alphabetical pronunciation chart as a group to help the way we use our mouths to pronounce and project specific words, this helps difficult words.
