Dear Susan,
I've read your blog, and I really appreciate your dealing with such a difficult life. However, it is, here in Turkey, the same more or less. I will try to explain how it is going here with pandemic and how I deal with pandemic.

After months with pandemic, we are used to measures, too. However, it does not mean that we are having our best lives, if I must say. Now, we are in a strict lockdown which means that we cannot go outside unless we need to do grocery or meet other basic needs. Having said that, many workers are excluded from these measures. Such as workers in constructions and in factories, they have to work while some workers are either completely free or working from home. Schools and universities are locked down, too. Therefore, I spend my whole day at home.

Like you, also I've learned how to manage this situation. I started spending more time with my family, too though it did not last long. Our former daily routines reappeared again except going outside. I tried lots of new things such as how to fix electronical devices at home, how to grow a lemon tree by seeds, and basically things which once had seemed unnecessary or pointless. Well, as I usually get bored of things after a while, I tried as many new things as I could, or I picked up new hobbies, instead of sticking to one or two. Thus, it kept me interested in things and distracted me from the prison-like feeling.

To say the last, we are struggling with pandemic here, too, just like everywhere in the world. Despite the strict measures, we somehow find our way to keep yhings going. I feel like we've got to learn by this pandemic about being grateful for what we have at hand and how we can make the best out of the worst. I really can't wait to read your next post on your blog! Very good job. Stay safe.

Your Friend,
MEHMET MERT SANCAKLI.

Hi Susan,
The articles on your blog are very eye-catching, and people have many questions about what they can do in lockdown. Moreover, you can mention your own country's situation and are curious about the situations in other countries, so ı would like to talk about Turkey.

Firstly, ı want to mention the current situation in Turkey. There is a strict 17-day lockdown and all cities must abide by this ban because the number of cases and deaths continues to increase; for this reason, by reducing the number of people in public places, their mask, distance, and cleaning reduce Covid cases.

Also, ı want to mention my daily routine. Normally ı should have moved to another city for university in October 2020, but my current lessons are online, so ı am home all day. I watch movies or Tv series, read many books, cook something, and try to learn Japanese. İf ı do not do whole things, after a while ı cannot desire to do anything and die of boredom.

Finally, my advice is to try to protect yourself from the Covid and improve yourself in this quarantine process.

Sincerely,
Zehra Kurt

Hi Susan,
I hope all is well in your life despite this tragic corona situation. Over almost a year, we try to deal with corona, but unfortunately, the situation does not seem heartwarming. Like us, almost all countries suffering from these undesirable conditions, and they try to deal with corona.

Now in Turkey, we are at a very long lockdown, and it will last almost 17 days. At this time we have to stay at home, but we can go out just to meet our grocery needs at specific periods.

Although it can be difficult to be motivated to spend the time effectively, in this period of lockdown, we should do our best to pass the time well. For example, we can focus on our duties or assignments, and also we can improve ourselves culturally. For instance, we can watch many films and series, and we can read many books and magazines because we will have many times in this long period. Also, if we want, we can find many online lessons or seminars, so we can participate in them.

I hope, this information will enable you to your vlog

Take care
Merve Uçar

Hi Susan,

I read your blog and congratulate you on your approach to such an important issue.

First of all, I want to mention about the current situation in Turkey. the situation is getting very serious. The number of patients is increasing day by day. In addition to conscious people who wear masks, care for cleanliness, and pay attention to distance, there are also people who are not conscious of these issues, endangering both their own health and the health of the people around. Due to these reasons, there are constant curfew restrictions. There is now a 17-days curfew in Turkey. We can only go out at certain hours to meet our market needs. In addition, many measures are taken to reduce the spread of the virus.

Secondly, I would like to mention about some changes and innovations in my life during this important period. I cannot meet my friends because I mostly spend time at home. I cannot do my outdoor activities. I tried many things to not get bored during my time at home. The most important of these are the things I do to improve my English. I made many foreign friends. I talked to them all the time. So, I made new friends and improved my English a little bit. Apart from that, I watched many TV series and movies and this was the most enjoyable way I spent my time. I also read more books than I have in my normal life. Apart from that, I became interested in some musical instruments and I will decide to start dealing with a musical instrument as soon as possible. So, I try to use my time in the best and most accurate way.

Thirdly, I want to tell you a few things. Never lose hope. These days will pass and we will go back to our normal lives. We will continue from where we left everything. Remember, every setting sun has a rise. Decide what to do in the rising sun instead of crying because the sun has gone down.

Best regards,

Zehra Başçi

Dear Susan,
How do you feel nowadays?
I have received your e-mail about how people's life have changed after the COVID-19 lockdowns. I really like your writings, and I am sure that you will end up with an efficacious one with the help of me.
Actually, lots of changes have been seen after the lockdowns in Turkey. Our habit of shopping, sporting, education and communication have dramatically changed. Before the pandemic, we used to prefer mostly shopping by going shopping centers and spending time there; however, it is not possible when the curfew is announced. We shop online by reducing the risk of getting infected. I used to go to the gym in order to work out with my boyfriend, but it is not possible now. Instead, I joined an online Zumba class. We all were going to the school, but now our homes are our school too. As for communication, the way we talk to each other is not like it used to be. When I want to come together with my friends or relatives, we arrange a meeting on WhatsApp. In a nutshell, the way we live has changed with the COVİD-19 curfews from shopping to communication.
I hope this would help you with your blog writing, and I hope we can meet up with you just like the old days without worrying the virus.
Best regards,
-Eda

Hi Susan,

I have read your blog and I would like to give my experiences on how my daily life has changed over the duration of covid-19

Firstly, I live in Turkey and we are currently on a lockdown, the situation does not seem to go in a very bright end but personally I am trying my best to keep my family and myself protected. For my personal experience, I usually do not go outside and buy necessary things online and use my free time to pursue my hobbies and stay away from stress as much as possible. Occasionally, I call my friends and maybe play some online games with them or read some books to pass time. Other times, I would be working on my studies and try to improve my knowledge by learning new things like human psychology, external threats to Earth, and how human reasoning works. If I need to give advice, it would be to keep a good balance between your concerns and your relaxing time. Overall, I do not think covid-19 made a huge change to my life style but it definitely damaged how countries worked and how people interacted with each other.

-Gürkan

Covid-19 affects my daily routin positively thanks to online education. To list all the sides I like would be impossible; however, I will try to count few of them. Firstly, I have the chance to wake up when I want. Secondly, I can have my morning coffee and breakfast freely, not hectic to catch up with lesson.

Dear Susan,
I read your blog and liked it very much. First of all, I congratulate you for following the rules. Let me tell about how this process started for me.
Quarantine started while I was preparing for my university exam. I was very worried at first. My courses were closed and we continued our lessons with the online education I had never experienced before. It was so stressful process for me. After a while, I realized that I could study more efficiently. however, it was a huge disappointment for me not to be able to go to college and meet new friends because of the lock-down.
Unlike your family, both of my parents are at home. We go out and walk at certain times and meet our needs. Actually, we started spending more time together, and recently I realized that it is a lot of fun for me.
Finally, let me talk about the situation of my country. Many business were closed. Therefore, many people were left unemployed. This has affected seriously many people financially. Even worse, some irresponsible people do not obey the rules; they go out, do not wear a mask, and do not obey the distance rules despite restrictions.
As a result, the number of deaths and diseased has been increasing rapidly in recent times. There are no empty beds anymore in the hospitals. The patience and strength of healthcare professionals is gradually running out.
I hope that as soon as possible, the quarantine and virus will end. Take care of yourself and stay healthy!

As you know, to prevent people from getting sick, governments are taking precatuions and depending on the situation they loosen or tighten the precations time to time. Here in my country it is prohibited to go outside all day long for certain age groups. People who are under the age of twenty can go outside between 1 AM and 4 PM while people who are above the age of sixty-five can go outside between 10 AM and 1 PM.

Our economy affected severely like all the other countries and so many bussinesses shut down during this crisis. People lost their jobs, families suffer from poorness and overall life quality went down. Because of this, people could not keep up with precautions and they broke too many rules. They got out of their homes when they are not allowed to, and therefore everything got worse. But now thanks to ‘full closing’ things are seemed to be getting under control.

My daily routine did not change that much surpisingly. The only thing that changed is my daily walk. I used to walk everyday but now I can not of course. I always try to be active at my home. I exercise, I grow plants and vegatables, I try to cook new foods, I clean and tidy my room everyday, I play computer games and listen to music, because when I do not move enough I feel unhealthy and uncomfortable therefore I am always looking for new interests and hobbies.

I hope everything is okay by your side. Stay safe and healthy. Salutations from Turkey.

                                                                                                                                Muhammet Yılmaz

I only go out to get essentials and this has been bothering me for a while. It started annoying me since it made my life so monotonous.
