Seth Goldman, a graduate of Harvard and Yale School and Barry Nalebuff, one of Seths Yale school professors created Honest Tea beverage comapny. Seth first got the idea after he went on a long run one day and made a pit stop at the gas station for a refreshing drink in the cold area of the store. He then came to a realization that there were no cold refreshing drinks after his long run in the hot weather. With this experience Seth decided to create his own company, Honest Tea. He wanted to create a tea that was organic, refreshing and not as heavily sweetened.

In 2008, Coca-Cola bought out a 40% stake of honest Teas company for 43$ million. The money is not the capital aspect, but what Coca Cola did with the money they spent to buy Honest Tea is the capital aspect. Coca Cola invested into Honest Tea in hopes of its future success. Later in 2011 Coca Cola bought 100% of Honest Tea. At the time Seth Goldman was still the CEO of Honest Tea when received the profits, and he took the profits and invested them back into the business of Honest Tea and spent it on things like faster distribution and faster production by hiring more workers and spending money on other things for the advantage of Honest Tea.

Dispute Coca-Colas success with Honest Tea beverages, they decided to completely stop selling Honest Tea products in 2022, during the pandemic to prioritize other beverages they sold that were more popular and generating more sales than Honest Tea. Seth Goldman was greatly disappointed by this and later made another beverage comapny named Just Ice Tea.

Fresh Fields now known as Whole Foods, bought 1,200 cases of bottled Honest Tea. It was Honest Teas first order and they knew they were in business now. This is Capital because it shows how Honest Tea paid money to distribute their products and sell them at Whole Foods. They also used their money gained from Whole Foods to reinvest into more products to be produced to start producing more in hops of later selling at other stores which they later did.

Honest Tea rented space out in 15 cities around the U.S. to promote and sell their products. This was land because Honest Tea spent money to set up these pop ups and rent the area out in order to sell their product in that area.

In 2015 Seth felt that Coca Cola became very uncommitted to Honest Tea after they bought it. So then Seth wanted to quiet and start another company. This is labor because it is talking about Honest Teas CEO a crucial worker, not working for Honest Tea anymore.

Seth states in his podcast interview from “How I Built This”, that shortly after he started up his Honest Tea company, once it started growing he was gifted a $50,000 check from his dad to help with the start up of the company. Seth only spent this money on the business itself for things like production and other cost factors.
