         <description><![CDATA[<div>Struggling Readers:<br>-KWL anchor charts will contain words as well as pictures to assist the students in recognizing key words and to be used as reference for when they begin to fill out their graphic organizer and write about the winter holiday they chose.<br>-They will be provided with tablets or computers with headphones so that they have access to digital books that are read to them about the holidays.<br><br>Gifted Students:<br>-Gifted students will be guided by the teacher to complete a higher order thinking task by describing why different cultures celebrate the holidays that they do.<br><br>Underperforming students or those with gaps in prior knowledge:<br>-The anchor charts will be used and we will discuss things that the students already know about different holidays around the world.<br>-For our underperforming students, they will be given the tasks and allowed more time to complete the assignments if necessary. They will also receive small-group conferences to monitor their progress more frequently.<br><br>Struggling Writers:<br>Students could use dictated text features on tablets or phones to dictate their text into a digital concept map provided by the teacher.</div>]]></description>
