Reading does engage a persons imagination due to the words that spilled on the pages taking you to a different place, unknown. Maybe this type of reading is more inclined to the fiction genre. It's like, while you are reading the story, you are taken from the planet and put somewhere that anything is possible... The impossible. Reading has helped shape great leaders minds across history, as said in the video. It also helps shape culture, some stories come from writers that are on the other side of the world experiencing something that is not common to us and that it is part of their culture. Personally, I do not have a preference of reading nonfiction or fiction. It's good to have some in-tell on someones point of view or someones actual experience. Although, having some fairy-tale once in a while won't hurt.
