The major early civilizations were similar in several different ways. Geography usually was one characteristic that these civilizations shared. Early civilizations were located near rivers, because of the fertile flood plains ideal for growing crops. These civilizations also usually had some type of law code to govern their people, such as Hammurabi's Code. These early law codes were essential to keep early civilizations organized, but were often harsh. For the development of complex institutions in civilizations to occur, specialized occupations had to develop. The citizens would have to have occupations other than farming for there to be a need of more government and specialized institutions to develop. Overall, the earliest civilizations of man were similar in location, laws, and occupations.

The major early civiliztions had many similarities. First off, they all had their own river valley's. This provided rich soil for crops, they used the rich soil for farming. The river also gave them access to water and trade routes. The flooding of the river is what gave them all of these things. The way they ran their government was by having their own set of laws. They also had class system.

All civilizations have needed components to survive. Over the early major civilizations we have discussed in World History they all are built near a body or source of water. The water provided fertile land needed for farming, the more food there is, the higher the population. A second thing they all had in common was they need a government, although they might be different ways of government they depend on some sort of ruler or ways of regulating there people. Lastly the early major civilizations had in common was there lack of savage, they had a justice system with fair rules.

All the major ancient civilizations were very similar. They all lived by a river, which was good for farming. In order for them to be a civilization, they needed some sort of government. Therefore, they all had law codes, and class systems. However, the class systems were very important to them because they kept the people in order. The ancient civilizations were very different, because they were all trying to survive.
