What I read about was that lack of clean water has serious effects on students academic performance and attendance rates. As for the girls if the schools do not have proper toilets, girls drop out once they reach puberty. They have to leave to go gather water. If the all the students are sick there is no class. HIV/AIDS has already caused a large percentage of children to become orphans.

African has hardly any schools due to the lack of water around that area. So that means lack of water means lack of equality. Schools also can't run programs if they have no access to clean drinking water. They dont have bathrooms and girls have to purposely leave when they hit teen years to go out everyday and gather water.

A good education can help people out of poverty and help there Health s they can attend school every day.Clean water can help grow food for the kids so they are concentrated in school instead of when they are going to eat.

The lack of water for girl girls, the situation is especially troublesome. If schools do not have proper toilets, girls drop out once they reach puberty. And other reason lack of water for girls is bad is that women and young girls carry more than 40 pounds of dirty water from sources over 4 miles away from their homes. This leaves little time for education which is critical to changing the long term prospects of developing nations.
