Travel companies have to comply with laws in each country they operate. Tourists are also more environmentally aware and will choose to book with companies that are playing their part in reducing their impact on the environment.
There is increasing pressure on travel organisations to become more environmentally responsible. Most companies now have a sustainability policy or strategy.
Popular destinations like the Maldives are at great risk from rising sea levels due to climate change.
