Klapa singing has been on the list of intangible heritage since 2012. Klapa is originally from Dalmatia (southern Croatia). It is sung polyphonically, unaccompanied by musical instruments. Usually one klapa has 5 to 8 members. In the past, klapas were only male, and today we have female klapas as well as mixed ones.
