Start by telling the story of the Gingerbread Man.

As you tell the story, get the children to join in with you on the chorus, “Run, run as fast as you can! You can’t catch me—I’m the Gingerbread Man!” Teach it to them slowly the first time, a word or two at a time with actions that make the meanings clear.
