The area and the geography influence the setting in many ways. The setting of Divergent takes place in partially abandoned Chicago. To get around the town the faction members walk, use trains, use cars, and ride buses. There is a fence that surrounds the city, and it is guarded by the Dauntless. Beyond the fence there are the Amity farms. This story takes place in the future because our modern day buildings are starting to crumble. Without the way the setting was put together, the story would not be the same. B.S.

Intellectual Influences

Do you know how Intellectual Influences are used in Divergent? In Divergent you can see that there are arts being preformed on the Dauntless when they get their tattoos.You also see writing and literature being used when Erudite are studying and being curious. All of the factions have an education until they are 16 when they choose there new faction. Also the Erudite invented things such as the fear landscape and the serum. As you can see Intellectual Influences effect the story greatly. T.F

Religious Influences

For the factions there is a big gap between religion and beliefs. The beliefs and teachings of each faction has different thoughts in what they do. This has an effect that made the whole society with Dautless, Euriudite, Abnegation, Candor, and Amity. Their deities is to believe in god, Abnegation prays, from other factions you do not see others with a god relationships with god. For example the everyday before the Abnegation eat they pray to god. When Tris was going to die she thought of god, in the other factions it says nothing about god. In conclusion most of the factions do not think of god. A.H

Political Influences

Have you ever wondered why there are different factions? After the war each faction has different beliefs for the cause of the war. In each faction there is a leader and the people have to be loyal to the leaders and the faction that there in. An example of this is, "faction before blood". The faction that controls the the court and the laws are the Abnegation. Erudite is against the Abnegation because they want a say in the law. Every factions doesn't like each other.

Economic Influences

The city does many things to keep the society going, some things are modern, but at the same time there is advanced ideas and technology. Amity trades crops, the farms are outside the city. Dauntless has monthly points to spend on what they need. As for Abnegation, they get the things they need every six months. They have advanced technology because of Erudite, they have Fear landscapes for Dauntless, and different serums to o different things that Dauntless and Erudite use. They have many people who do something with labor, farmers, guarding the fence, government people, and technology. If they did not do anything to help the society they would not have made it this far and ended up having a war. A.H

Social Influences Every faction has different way of life. In each faction they teach there people how to survive in faction. If they don't they could end up being factionles. The only thing that all the faction are alike is, when everyone turns 16 they have to take a faction test. Every faction will has its differences and similarities.
