When I was about 6 years old my parents got divorced and it was like my whole world flipped around. I was so confused and heart broken because I didn't understand. Of course as a young kid I wondered if there was something I could have done. So, I really needed something to keep my mind off of it. This song helped because it just made me feel better, I always thought it was kind of funny. The memory of that day will always remain fresh in my mind. We were very close and never kept secrets from each other. One day we were at my aunts house for a family dinner and she asked me to go for a walk with her and of course I said yes. A couple minutes into the walk she looked at me and said that she had to tell me something. I began to feel a little nervous and the thought that she could be pregnant crossed my mind but quickly let that thought go. Then, she told me. I stood there in shock feeling every emotion at once because I didn't know what to do. I told her that I'd always stick by her. I remember thinking about the baby and how much it would change everything and I knew that I would always protect the baby. When I finally saw Isabelle Rose for the first time I cried because she was so perfect and beautiful and my cousin had just had a baby. The first memory I have of my dad is reading bed time stories to me, I still remember the books. I always wanted to hang out with my dad and hang out with him, whether it be mowing the lawn or going for a ride to the dump. I love my dad so much, he always makes me laugh when I want to cry. I was standing on the street and then the next thing I see is a heard of people running. My instincts kicked in then I started to run too. Me and the group of people I was with ran into a jewelry shop and we hid inside until things had calmed down. This situation is still kind of hard to talk about or think about. When I hear fireworks it makes my race and my chest tight. It brings me back to the moment of standing in the street with people running. I chose this song because what happened that day was pointless. There was no need for violence or hate, the anger that this person felt did not need to be taken out on anyone else. What he did impacted everyone there and that is unfair. This song represents peace and coming together instead of fighting each other on disagreements. He’s helped me through a lot and we always find a way to make it work. He’s my best friend and boyfriend wrapped in one, and that’s pretty cool. He makes me laugh, he makes me happy, and he just makes me feel better when I’m at my worst. We just get each other and we get along. We're going with the flow and it seems to be working.
