This book is about two boys from both inside and outside the area of a Nazi camp, Amazingly they meet by "accident" and started the friendship with an awkward conversation. They both had different family background and stories that they decided to tell each other. 
The character I hated the most was Lieutenant Kotler, That ridiculous young man that killed a dog just for peeing on a little corner of the fence. He was a power-hunger Lieutenant that was a side-kick of Bruno's (Boy from outside the fence) Father. If his wasnt a higher-grade then Kotler, he must have tried every possible excuse to get Bruno out of his own house. He always called Bruno, "little man" not to mention how Furious Bruno was inside when he said that. 
He was a really dangerous man and someone to be cautious of since his action and seemingly nice to Bruno's Father while actually Power-Hungry on his dark side. The story could have ended a lot exciting then a heart-breaking innocent death from Bruno taking an adventure inside  the camp getting poisoned to death as the book did not cover this but it did mention them entering a dark locked room and they were never found again.
