HOUSEHOLD SIZE AND LOCATION
● Malaysian homes are relatively small in terms of room size but are large in terms of resident numbers. Surging urbanisation drive : Economic growth has driven urbanisation, as more young people have left small towns and villages to pursue their fortunes in major cities.

CONSUMER COMPOSITION
● Male household heads extremely dominant : The vast majority of Malaysia’s household heads are male, making them the primary audience for big-ticket items and other major purchases. The increasingly dominant 60+ age bracket ( The country’s homes are undergoing rapid population ageing, as birth rates are declining and people live longer) among household heads presents expansive opportunities in healthcare and financial services.

FAMILY TYPES
● Couples with children dominant, but singletons on the rise : Malaysia is entirely dominated by households made up of couples with children. however, The surging rise in single-person households going forward will open up new opportunities for companies, diluting the family market.

HOUSEHOLD FACILITIES AND DURABLES
● Malaysia has a mature environment in terms of household durables and facilities : the increase of urbanisation has helped to drive this, as fewer homes remain in rural areas that are lacking in electricity and water connectivity.

HOUSEHOLD TELECOMS
● Strong pay-TV market : Malaysians are frequent and eager users of technology, with the digital market expanding rapidly in the country, on the back of more affordable gadgets and telecom services. PROPERTY MARKET Surging rental market driven by urbanisation: The rental segment is booming, as newly urbanised consumers look to find residences but may not be able to afford to purchase a home outright.
HOUSING CONSTRUCTION ● Houses dominant, but apartments growing much faster : With apartments cheaper and more convenient for modern consumers, as well as generally more city-friendly in terms of construction and space, this segment is expanding at a much faster rate than houses.
