Have students write a letter that tells about themselves at the beginning of the year.  Make a point to connect with each kid in regards to something in their letter.<br>3. Connect with kids with their interests (sports, fashion, etc)<br>4. Treat students with respect and dignity.<br>5. Attend events outside of the regular school day. (Sporting events, dances, etc.)<br>6. Tell stories about your own personal life.  Invite students into your world.<br>7. Understand that no one is perfect.  When you make a mistake, own it.  Show students that mistakes are normal and how we grow as human beings.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
