]]> 2017-06-05 21:09:37 UTC https://padlet.com/mtedeschi1/n0g424xbyb61/wish/175282145 Amanda's answer https://padlet.com/mtedeschi1/n0g424xbyb61/wish/175282383      The San Diego Zoo Kids Channel is a great way to take the kids' minds off of thinking or worrying about why they are in the hospital.  The channel allows the kids to learn about the animals and experience what it's like to be in a zoo.  It is an enjoyable escapade for these hospitalized children.  It is always so depressing to see the sad children think about why they are there.  They have nothing good to think about.  It just makes me feel so bad.  So, when I heard the news about the new channel, I was so excited because I thought that it could be a chance to make the kids forget about their troubles so they can be happy.  Seeing them happy makes me happy.  When the channel first came out, I had a patient to think about more than just why he was there.  So I came in and turned on the TV.  When I put on The San Diego Zoo Channel on, their face just lit up.  It made me so glad to see a sad child cheered up by the channel.  Other employees that work here in the hospital with me have noticed that their patients look happier now too.  While the shows are not only entertaining, they are also just really special because the channel was designed specifically for them, which must make them fell good, and seeing footage of the animals that nobody else could ever get to see would be pretty exciting for them.  When the channel came out I had expectations of seeing a child laugh, or smile, or something.  However, reality exceeded my expectations - by a long way. My patients were just so happy their minds just stopped thinking, watched the show, and (temporarily) completely forgot about why they were there.  To them, it just felt like a normal day sitting on the couch at home watching television.  So, I am beyond excited to see my patients well and happier than when they came.
     The whole thing started because the hospitalized children were so sad, and since they aren't well enough to the zoo, the zoo was brought to them through TV.  The channel plans to continue to make kids happy and to put smiles on their faces by continuing to use the channel.  This person thinks that the channel is a good idea.  This is because this person thinks that The San Diego Zoo Channel is a big distraction from reality and their own troubles.  It is like their own private escape from everything they don't want to be in.

It's also good for those who create the program."  this quote proves that it is not ok for the kids to see it up in person but it is allowed on video though and it gets there mind off of the hospitial and their sickness.

I went inside to see what was making him smile.Then I saw the TV was on the San Diego Zoo kids channel. So I went to the other rooms and all the kids were smiling watching TV and on the same channel. So I asked a doctor "Why is this show making these kids so happy?" "The kids love the animals at the zoo and it makes them feel better and forget why they're here in the hospital. This might be a step closer to heeling. As days went by the kids were feeling better from this shown and I felt so happy.
