In the book, Penguins by Anne Schreiber I am learning that penguins love to eat fish. Penguins have a hooked beak and this helps them to grab their dinner right out of the water. In addition, they have barbs on their tongues to help them hold on to the food.
I found it really interesting to learn that penguins need to be careful when they are hunting for fish. When they are standing out in the ocean they can be caught by predators. In the book, it talks about how penguin get eatn by there prey one of there preys is a sealion. They really don't like the penguins. Sometimes the sea lion will go for the egg but most of the time they go for the adult penguin.

If i was a penguin I would be scared of the sealions!! But I would keep my egg safe. As you can see in the picture the penguin is keeping the egg safe from the predators. Maybe they want the baby penguins to have a long life. I also think that they LOVE there baby egg because maybe they want the egg to be safe and sound.

@Emerson - I love how you synthesizing the information you are getting information from text and the pictures! I agree, one of the main predators for the penguin is the sea lion. Next time, try and use those research based vocabulary words (i.e. predators, prey, etc) - Mrs. Struss

I was reading about the penguins eggs when they are in a rush they slide on there bellies. they also call that that tobogganing. also when the penguins are not looking the sea lion eats the egg. the chicks all so live in this big group .

the sad things about penguins is that the baby chicks get eaten. if some one eat your baby will you me sad I now I will. so feel bad for them. the adult penguins also get eaten too isn't that sad.

I agree with you because it really is sad that penguins are getting eaten. I think that it should STOP!!! YES that is really for the new born baby's to get eaten if they were just born the day before than they won't have a long life!!! :(

They really cute. I heard that they are getting killed for oil!!! Isn't that sad, don't you think it is sad.

But the creepy thing is that there eyes are RED!!! Another one of there body parts are there beak. There beaks are orange. They are black and white. I found that so cool that they are two different colors!
