Assistance:

Students with weak fine motor may need adaptative tools to help with copying.

• Backward Chaining Strategy:

Present spoken word. Have student trace the word. Remove letters from last to first.

• Computer-assisted Instruction:

Have student select letters from a computer based array to create the word depicted.

• Cover, Copy, Compare:

Four columns. 1. The target word. 2. Student writes word in the second column. Fold columns one and two. 3. Writes word from memory in third column. Compare to the first column.

• Video Models:

Record a video of you writing the words. Display while the students type/write the words. Then on a blank screen the students types/writes the word from memory

• Write, type or select word when given a picture or object

• Turn into sentences starters, 'I see a ____.'

• Decrease starters to create independent sentences

• Encourage to write multiple sentences about a picture or object.

• Fade out pictures. Students writes sentences on previous learned information.

• Begin with teaching students to write simple paragraphs

• Identify topic

• Apply to writing a paragraph about a picture. Creating a topic by highlighting the picture.
