About moths and mass killing of silkworms.

Moths are in the Lepidoptera Order (sub-class) along with butterflies. But it is wrong to assume that they are close to each other by biological means since there is major differences between their both appearances and evolutionary backgrounds.

Followings are some major differences to distinguish moths from butterflies:

•Moths’s antennas are more rounded along with them having a tiny ball on its end.

Butterflies’s antennas are straight.

•Moths are nocturnal animals, which means that they’re active at nighttime. So if you saw something flying in the corner of your eye, it is probably a moth!

•moths have a visible body containing the classic parts of an insect: the head, the abdomen and the thorax. Their skin is also fuzzy.

Butterflies body is so thin and hard to read its characteristics.

Also it is known that moths have been in the World much longer than butterflies, deduction made from 190 million years old moth fossils being found. Butterflies does not posses this ancestral history (that we know of)

Fun facts: Moths are one of the most both destructive and nutritious insects for worlds economy. Some moth species are invasive and damaging. But a lot of moths are responsible for pollinating plants. More than that stupid butterflies even! And silkworms are pretty pricey for their use in fabric making.

But,

I want people to raise awareness in silk-making industry.

Thousands of silkworms are boiled alive daily.

5.500 silkmoths are getting killed for a kilogram of silk.

It is estimated that 1.000.000.000.000 (one trillion) moths get boiled alive yearly. Thats equivalent to 2.8 billion moths a DAY. Male moths are killed early due to them being “invaluable” since they give less silk and make no eggs. And female moths are being forced to lay eggs.

And when the baby moths succumb out of their cocoons. They are boiled alive. It is said that moths scream in pain when getting boiled.

There cruelty-free silk options such as ahimsa silk, alternative fabrics for silk.

Spread awareness.

The Republic of Turkey was established on 29 October 1923 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. With most of its land located in Western Asia, the rest is in southern Europe. It borders the Mediterranean Sea to the south, the Aegean Sea to the west, and the Black Sea to the north. Turkey shares borders with eight countries. Turkey is ostensibly a secular state and the majority of its population is Muslim. The capital is Ankara; contrary to popular belief Istanbul is not the capital. It is the most populous city in Turkey and Europe and has been the home to many civilizations in history . It is both a developing country and a run by a president system country. It is a democratic secular and unitary republic. Turkey is a founding member of the OECD, the G20 and the Organization of Turkic States. It is also one of the earliest members of NATO, boasting the second largest army in the alliance behind the United States. Turkey is a possible member country for membership in the European Union. It is a member to the EU Customs Union, the Council of Europe, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and TURKSOY. Due to its military strength and diplomacy, Turkey is considered a local power. It is also significant because it lies between Europe, Asia. Turkey also had universal health care, greater access to education, and innovation. With 22 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, 30 UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage items, and a rich cuisine, Turkey is the fourth most visited country in the world.

Zeynep Duru GÖRGÜLÜ

Ethics

they are deceiving or taking advantage of someone else. Ethics comes from the Greek word "ethos," meaning character or moral nature, and it has a wider meaning than simply being right or wrong. It involves a careful study of human actions to understand their moral value. In this, ethics is very close to philosophy. The term "ethics" can be used in two different ways. In the first use, ethics is called "moral philosophy." This is the branch of philosophy that studies ethics and tries to understand it better. In the second use, ethics is seen as a set of rules that tell us how we should act in certain situations. These rules can come from different places, like personal beliefs, culture, religion, or society's laws. Philosophers are interested in both meanings of ethics and try to understand how they fit together. They study the difference between rules based on reason and those based on tradition or culture. They also look at the best way to act when we don't know what the right thing is to do. Finally, they try to figure out what it really means to be ethical in human life.

Zeynep Duru GÖRGÜLÜ
