Machines can do a lot of things, and probably they can be like a human, but without feelings, and can help a lot of people who have problems in their life. So yes, machines have the same rights as humans. The machines were invented to do things better than us, and I don't see any problem about it, but obviusly we need to have manpower. With the development of the technology we currently have, machines could be smart enought to make things work, because a lot of them were invented for that. Obviusly, machines need to have specific works, because if they have all the works, we humans wouldn't have any job, and this can bring many problems, especially economic.

Machines do many things on their own, so they can help or do our work, for example, the cooking machines, they help us a lot on the kitchen! As I know, machines can do several things, this may mean that they are more intelligent than us, due to the evolution of technology, which at this time is very advanced. For now, this is my opinion, the machines are very advanced, so one day, they can do all the works on the Planet Earth.

Even with the extraordinary performances, the present capacities of machines fall so deep below the capacities of humans, it's more appropriated to consider them as constructed tools. Machines, robots have an important state in life, they help us in many things, they simplify many things. However, machines don't think, everything they do was programmed by man before.

Whether machines should have rights or not as us humans do depends solely on one thing: their capacity to feel. Let's say a machine is created with artificial intelligence, a purpose, and it works effectively, but has no feelings, then it's no more than a tool that works to our benefit. If, in the other hand, the creator of the machine is able to develop some kind of consciousness, a capacity to feel, then it stops being just an object, and it becomes a conscious being. If it can be hurt, if it can develop compassion, if it can feel affection, then it has a sense of morality, even more if it can be introduced in its algorithm. In that case, this rational machine should have rights, has it should have duties, the same way humans do. I don't think a machine like that has already been created, so this doesn't apply to the present. However, if and when it's developed, that kind of machine deserves basic rights, or else it'll be used and abused by us humans.

In my point of view actually machines shouldn't have the same rights of humans. First of all machines are a human creation with a very low creativity, so they are unable to contribute with something to society, so it will be unfair to all the humans that criated amazing things like computers, spaceships, smarphones, the internet and others big inventions. Machines also don't have consciousness or feelings so if they go through difficult situations for exemple , they won´t feel rage or sadness , they won't even notice what is happening and they also they won't be able to make a decision. In conclusion, if machines had feelings it will be unfair for us that fight everyday against life problems and for a better future, capacities that machines will never have!

Although machines can work better than us humans and be smarter, they are nothing more than a human creation. In my opinion, they should not have the same rights as us, since they don't have feelings, sensations or consciousness, for now. However, if in a distant future machines already have these things, mainly consciousness, I'm in favor of them having rights, as well as duties, even if these can be different from those of humans, since their nature is different. Until then, they are nothing more than a human tool, like a car for example, only more capable. Telmo Santos

Machines are not humans. They are very useful and helpful, but they don't have a conscience. That's a human thing. They can do a lot of things and you can't deny that they are important to us, we need them. However, I'm talking about what I think now, at present. If they had the same rights, imagine that you make a call from your phone, should it be paid, like a salary?

In my opinion machines should not have the same rights as humans, because they are not like us in many things, they do not have feelings and sensations so they will be indifferent to life problems. Machines also do not have consciousness to improve and develope their future. In conclusion machines are not such good as we are and do not have the same skills.
-Carolina Duarte
