This movie starts out on an Earth in the future, which is a dystopian future. Our planet has been literally trashed: that is, filled with trash and garbage. Human beings have been evacuated since the planet is basically unlivable. The company called BNL has been using these robots, which are garbage compactors, to help clean up the mountains of trash. Basically the clean up was to take five years. The plan was for a 5 year cruise in luxury- however, the plan has gone wrong. The clean up has taken much longer than expected. The clean up has still not been completed, and it has been several centuries since humans departed. However, the clean up continues. The robot named WALL-E is continuing the cleanup. It is unclear if there is any other like him still operating. The robot is following his programming, and the human beings may have lost interest with the clean up on Earth, since the planet is now abandoned.As WALL_E continues, he becomes a sentient being, and develops an interest in human culture. He collects artifacts, and watches TV shows, and listens to music, etc. On a typical day of cleaning and collecting interesting artifacts, he notices a red dot. And he tries to catch it, and chases it. He realizes it is a ring of lights which is part of a spaceship, and barely escapes alive. The spaceship discharges a white capsule the size of WALL-E, which transforms into a a robot EVE. WALL-E falls in love, and follows her, as she tries to do her mission. Eventually, WALL-E gets through to her. He shows her a plant that he found. Upon seeing it, EVE takes it and stores it inside her and goes into hibernation. WALL-E thinks he broke her. WALL-E tries to fix her, to no avail. EVE was to retrieve life on the planet , for some unclear purpose. Eventually, EVE's beacon attracts a spaceship, which retrieves her. WALL-E stows away on the ship. (In the hope of retrieving EVE) The ship reaches the remnants of humanity on the luxury spaceship. WALL-E sneaks on board with EVE. Humans have become fat and helpless, since they are served by robots. Humans have forgotten how to be self-sufficient.
