The first goal I have for this experience would have to be is to create a trusting and nurturing environment that my student will feel safe and comfortable with. I will do this by getting to know their background and how they became the person they are today. This is one of my goals because when dealing with literacy this can be a very tough spot in some students lives so creating a positive environment through activities and even sharing about myself will help my student move towards pushing themselves and being vulnerable with me.

While I was tutoring these students, I felt as if we weren't connecting. Without this connection between the the tutee and tutor, I felt like they weren't gaining anything from this experience. With that being said, my first goal is to build rapport between me and that student. From this rapport I will be able to learn about the student's interest, strengths, and even their weaknesses. I can then take this information and apply it into creating well-rounded content for the student. Another goal that I have is for my student to feel safe in our learning environment. When I was younger, I struggled with reading and writing. If I see my student is struggling, I want to let them know that it is okay to struggle. Finally, my last goal is for my student to overcome these learning challenges that they may have. A way for them to overcome these challenges is to set goals with these students! Also by making learning fun, students are more likely to want to come and learn new and challenging material.
