His mother bears him with hardship. And she brings him forth with hardship, and the bearing of him, and the weaning of him is thirty months, till when he attains full strength and reaches forty years, he says: My Lord! Grant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds, such as please You, and make my offspring good. Truly, I have turned to You in repentance, and truly, I am one of the Muslims (submitting to Your Will).

In this ayah, Allah already mentioned that our mother has received great hardship when carrying us and bringing us to this world. Thus, our parents deserves our appreciation, as they sacrifices a lot of things to make sure our

survival in this world.

Abu Hurairah reported that a person said: Allah's Messenger, who amongst the people is most deserving of my good treatment? He said: Your mother, again your mother, again your mother, then your father, then your nearest relatives according to the order (of nearness). This hadith proved that we must love our parents and show it to them by respecting, always being thoughtful, always being attentive to their physical and mental conditions, and granting their wishes.

[Surah al-Baqarah:152]

Meaning:

Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying), I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless Favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me.

I love this quote because remembering and being grateful to Allah leads to His remembrance and blessings in return. As a medic student, I can reflect on the gratitude for the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will help others and contribute to their wellbeing.

Moreover, as this ayah emphasizes about the commitment of remembering Allah, I also loves to relate it with the importance of remembering the learning that I gained during my studies as it is crucial in providing quality treatment for others.
