Division of Domestic Labor: The idea that "men's jobs" include handy work, and "woman's jobs" are to keep a household.
Misandry: a hatred of men (feminism is not the same as this!)
Misogyny: a hatred of women
Objectification: Treatment of somebody as a object rather than a person
Wage Gap: the difference between the amounts of money paid to women and men, often for doing the same work
Slut - Shaming: attacking a woman or a girl for being sexual, having one or more sexual partners, acknowledging sexual feelings, and/or acting on sexual feelings
Intersectionality: concept used to describe the ways in which oppression (racism, sexism, homophobia, trans-phobia, able-ism, class-ism, etc.) are interconnected and cannot be examined separately from one another

The number of girl science participants however, decreased through each grade. Perhaps this is because as girls get older, it isn't as "cool" to be interested in science, rather than things like boys and makeup and popularity. Also, as girls reach their teenage years, their self-esteem is extremly sensitive and they strive to fit in and be liked. Parents have most likely not introduced the concept to their children , because it simply wasn't something they learned about growing up, so they feel it isn't important for their kids to know growing up. However, we are now in the 21st century, and things like rape, sexism, racism, and the growing wage gap exist more often than you may think. It's important that our generation is informed about this because we are the ones who are creating the 21st century. I believe that this issue needs to be addressed with both girls AND boys because as Kurt Cobain once said, "Rape is one of the most terrible crimes on earth and it happens every few minutes. The problem with groups who deal with rape is that they try to educate women about how to defend themselves. What really needs to be done is teaching men not to rape. Go to the source and start there." The world is a lot more modern now and things like this happens everyday around the world. Girls should know that they are worth it. They can grow up to achieve anything that they want. They CAN be doctors, scientists, and engineers. They are worth 1000 times more than just their looks. And boys need to know that there is no "you hit like a girl" in our world. There is no shame from being outrun by a girl. There is no advantage in our world from simply the gender you were born in. It isn't "gay" to have feelings or show emotion. Being gay is not and will not be a insult. America will not turn their backs on the immigrants that make up America. Women will not submit to the patriarchy. And WE are the future, the future is ours, and we will make it ours.
