It was a complete delight for me to have been included in this Etwinning Project entitled Water Voyage. I have taught older classes in Primary level here in Ireland for sometime now, and really appreciated the opportunity to try out something unique with them, which they too had never encountered before. We all thoroughly enjoyed the array of activities suggested by our partners. We were total amateurs with the etwinning, but the children in my class guided me, their not-so-tech-savy teacher, all along the way! We learned so much about using the various tools like ebook Book creators, Padlet, Draw.chat, Google Earth, Zoom and Google meet, and so much more.

Furthermore we had immense fun learning about the importance of conserving and using water wisely, the beauty of rivers in our and our partner’s countries across Europe, and their importance for recreation like water sports and leisure activities.

We have also seen the importance of our Rivers around Europe for wildlife and how human activities can greatly damage the quality of the water for these plants and animals. As humans and citizens of Europe, not only my students, but I too have become aware of the great responsibility we have to protect our Rivers and to channel our learning to others around us.

On a personal level, I had a lot of fun engaging with fellow teachers around Europe, sharing moments with them in their classrooms on our Googlemeets and Zoom calls, and feeling a sense of commonality with them. We all face challenges as teachers but also encounter a lot of joys. There was a great feeling of camaraderie between us, and I really appreciated all the guidance and encouragement that was to be offered, particularly on the Whatsapp chat! Thanks to everyone for making my first etwinning experience so enjoyable!

The program gave me the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues and students from other countries, an unprecedented experience for my students. We worked long hours to cope, gaining knowledge about water, rivers and the countries that flow through it. We developed our digital skills and collaborated online with students from other countries. But the most important thing was the strengthening of cooperation between my students and the enthusiasm to succeed. The engagement also brought awareness, since on World Water Day the children undertook to inform the entire school about water and the problems that have arisen. Thank you Water Voyage Program!

The participation of the 4th grade in the eTwinning project "Water Voyage" offered multiple benefits for both the students and me. The students had the opportunity to develop collaboration, creativity, and digital literacy skills, while also connecting with peers from other countries, broadening their horizons, and fostering a sense of European identity. Moreover, the water-related theme enhanced their environmental awareness. The program gave me a valuable opportunity for professional development, the exchange of good practices with colleagues from abroad, and the implementation of innovative tools and teaching methods in the classroom. Through the "Water Voyage" project, children learned about the vital importance of water for all living organisms and the need for its proper management. They explored the water cycle, the different forms water takes in nature, and its essential uses in daily life. Furthermore, they became aware of the problems caused by water pollution and waste, developing a sense of responsibility toward the environment. Through activities, collaborations, and creative projects, they realized that water is a precious natural resource that requires care and respect. Thank you very much Water Voyage Program!

The “Water Voyage” project has gone beyond being just an eTwinning activity and has become a comprehensive learning experience that develops students’ environmental awareness and sense of responsibility that they will carry throughout their lives. Thanks to this project, students have gone beyond being informed about the protection of a vital resource such as water and have questioned how they can contribute both individually and socially. Each stage of the project was meticulously planned to support collaboration, creativity and problem-solving skills. Students had fun and learned thanks to their work supported by posters, banners, digital presentations, experiments and visual arts. In addition, thanks to international collaborations, they gained a broader perspective by exchanging ideas with their peers from different cultures. In this process, not only scientific content but also life skills such as empathy, responsibility and collaboration came to the fore. The fact that students started to make conscious choices about water consumption in their own lives reveals how effective the project is. The “Water Voyage” project is a meaningful step towards a sustainable future and an exemplary model that highlights environmental awareness in education. It was a great honor for me, both as a teacher and as an individual, to be a part of such a valuable journey.
