Blindness, written by the nobel prize of literature José Saramago, is one of my favorite books. The work tells us about a city that is suddenly hit by a terrible epidemic of "blindness"; to contain the number of infected, the government will allocate strict measures which, as the epidemic spreads, will gradually become more and more inhumane. Saramago's style is undoubtedly particular, many apparently random choices then represent literary expedients to emphasize certain aspects, for example the fact of not defining the time and place of the events makes the atmosphere mysterious and even stranger. obviously the main reason why I would like to recommend this book lies in the fact that many analogies can be made with our times and it allows us to reflect on various ethical issues that concern us directly.

Factfulness is a 2018 book by Swedish statistician Hans Rosling. In the book, Rosling suggests that the majority of people are wrong about the state of the world. He demonstrates that his test subjects believe the world is poorer, less healthy, and more dangerous than it actually is, attributing this not to random chance but to misinformation. The survey at the beginning states that with over 10,000 poll recipients 80% knew less about the world than "chimps" would have, infact they do worse than random guessing. Rosling recommends thinking about the world as divided into four levels based on income brackets, and suggests ten instincts that prevent us from seeing real progress in the world. In my opinion this is a must-read book because it offers a different and objective (showing and analyzing a lot of data) point of view about the World.

Matteo Stefanini

This book is pretty long, but the reading is totally worth it. The story takes place in Afghanistan, where women are considered little or not at all. The protagonist of this story is Toru a man who is landing in Germany, but while he is travelling he hears a Beatles' song called "Norwegian Wood" which reminds him of his youth and give him a sense of loss and nostalgia. So after the introduction of the protagonist during his adulthood we can read about his youth which was affected by death, friendship, love and emptiness. I would suggest this book beacuse, although the story is really simple, it is also very touching and captivating, in fact the book is full of interesting characters and stories. In addition I think that Haruki Murakami's writing style is bewitching and fluid.

But one day, February 12, returning from a party with her friends, Sam dies in a tragic accident. The next morning, however, she wakes up in her bed: it is February 12 again. Suspended between life and death, she will continue to relive that day, behaving differently each time to try to avoid the accident ...
Personally I recommend this book to everyone because it is very engaging and exciting, but above all it makes us reflect on the precariousness and importance of human life.

The quiet life of the Bennet family is enlivened by the arrival of new neighbors: Charles Bingley and his sophisticated circle of friends including the wealthy and shady Fitzwilliam Darcy. All the girls are fascinated by him. All, except Elizabeth, the second child of the Bennet household. Intelligent and witty, the girl does not pursue worldliness but seeks true love ...
I recommend this book to every teenager like me because reading this means understanding who we are going to become, what is going to happen to us. It is aclassic love story, and moreover we find a completely different vision of love and marriage. Finally, Elizabeth Bennet is an icon of the feminist movement, in fact she is a harmonious combination of sensitivity, rationality and firmness.
Ilaria Franceschetti

The Picture of Dorian Grey is a 19th-century London novel written by Oscar Wilde.
The plot, briefly, tells of Dorian’s adventure and beauty thanks to the painting that Hallward gives him, reproducing him in the midst of his youth. Then there will be some complications that will lead the protagonist to no longer consider his beauty that reflected in the picture and then.... I don’t want to talk too much and lose the taste of reading this book.
I liked it a lot because it is a particular book that addresses the theme of beauty making life almost as subordinate to this; very simple and beautiful to read. It attracts your attention and in fact once you start reading it, you can no longer stop, trying to understand what happens in the chapters to follow.
I recommend it to everyone !!!

The book “Il cacciatore di aquiloni” is a very well known book, almost all over the world, it is very interesting, because it tells of how the Pakistan population experienced the arrival of the terrorists in Kabul and what they caused. I think it is a very beautiful and very instructive book, but above all very interesting. I would recommend it to anyone, it is not heavy to read, on the contrary it makes you want to continue reading it, as things that are not expected always happen, I also believe that the author is very good at writing. The book tells of the life of two boys, different but at the same time very similar: different because they are of two very different social classes, similar, because they live together and do everything together. The book tells about the life of the two boys, from birth to death, but while that of Amir, the wealthiest protagonist, will live for a long time, also having to leave his hometown with his father due to the arrival of the Taliban, Hassan, will die in young adulthood, as he decided not to leave the city, despite the presence of the Taliban. While initially the story of the two boys, when they are young, is intertwined, over time it will divide, and then at the death of Hassan, reconnect, as Amir returns to his hometown, to help his friend's son having been orphaned by both mother and father. The story will then continue with more and more interesting and unexpected events.

The title of the book derives from an event narrated in the book, that is the festival that took place in Pakistan, during which the competition was made to hunt kites and the competition was won by the two protagonists, when they were young.

Rowling’s books about Harry Potter and Hogwart’s world in general, but my favorite book is “Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix”, because Harry is not a child anymore and he has to face a lot of dangers. In this book Harry becomes a leader and he manages guide and teach all his friends, so that they can be ready to fight against the forces of evil that are about to come to Hogwarts. My favorite scene is Sirius Black’s death, because, even if I was sad because he was one of my favorite characters, J.K. Rowling describes very well the pain that you feel when someone you love dies: Harry becomes colder and wants to stay alone and away from his frinds
F. L.

"I was born with a shirt", Laszlo, Peter's father repeats once again, before moving from Hungary to Berlin at the end of the 1930s. Peter goes with him and looks fascinated by the big city, with its cinemas and parties and the atmosphere of great excitement that he cannot fully understand.
The Picture of Dorian Gray is a book about a young man, Dorian, who is negatively influenced by Wotton, who leads him to desire a life of eternal beauty and youth. Entering into a pact with the devil, Dorian manages to keep his youth forever, while a painting of him ages in his place, but this will not only lead him to be eternally beautiful, he will also become ruthless. I recommend the novel because it makes us understand how superficial it is to put something fleeting, like beauty, at the first place and to do everything to have it forever, even if we know that we are immersed in the dimension of time and that the eternal youth is just an illusion. It’s the story of how life can change in a moment and overwhelm everything.

Siméon, Morgane and Venise are three brothers orphaned after the abandonment of of the father and the death of the mother. The tutelary judge tracks down Barthélémy and Josiane, born of a father’s previous marriage, with two very different characters and both initially reluctant to get custody. Barthélémy, although irresponsible, soon became fond of his three brothers. Josiane, on the other hand, who is married but has never had children, is immediately interested in adopting the little Venise. Later Siméon was diagnosed with a form of leukaemia, an event that puts at risk his chance to get his diploma at the age of fourteen. But, during the treatment, his bond with Barthélémy is strengthened.
