The standard Enlistment contract typically consists of four years of active duty service, followed by four years in the inactive ready reserve. There can also be options for shorter and longer periods depending on the preference and needs of the Marine Corps. Boot camp training can take place in 2 locations, Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina and Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. The training will consist of 13 weeks straight of rigorous training developing knowledge, discipline, teamwork, fitness level, classroom instruction, and combat training.
