The documentary highlights the 'behind the scenes' life of a misunderstood musician, who had pressure from partners, parents and friends to be successful. It came at a price - her downfall was drugs and alcohol, which ultimately killed her. Due to this, the documentary gives viewers an insight into the reasons for her rollercoaster career, and breaks down the barrier between 'untouchable' celebrity and the real person that lies beneath.

Later in her career, the drugs and alcohol that Winehouse became addicted to began to take effect on her performances. At this point, her celebrity status was somewhat a mockery, as she was unable to perform to her previous standard and was not invited to chat shows or events due to her unruly and worrying behavioural outbursts through the years.

The interaction with other Twitter users and opportunity for fans to send Tweets ultimately creates a bridge between the celebrity and the 'normal' people.

The construction of a fan site further reiterates the position of celebrity that Winehouse achieved, as the upkeep of a fan website can be strenuous, so only the most dedicated fans take their time to make one.

It makes clear the lack of empathy that the public have for struggling celebrities while they are alive, in comparison to when they are dead. Their elevated status as 'famous' people gives the public the impression that they can criticise and make light of the addictions and struggles that stars face, despite them being normal people behind the curtain of stardom.
