Video 4 - Grade 5 Writing

- The teacher had the students write on something they had just discussed. The idea was that talking about your ideas helps prepare you for writing. She had most students work together, but pulled some target students aside to provide more scaffolding in the group. She made the pedagogy of talking about writing more explicit with this group, while the others worked independently. She then consolidated with positive reinforcement.
