I would get tested for a genetic disease. I would get tested so I would know if I do have a disease or if I am a carrier. Even though some people say that they don’t want the stress, you can just get it over with and know the answer and not stress anymore. All in all, I would be tested for a genetic disease so I can know if I have a disease and not stress over the result.

It did not change my opinion from our earlier discussion because I don’t want to live my life to be full of stress and worry. From the article I learned that testing is very expensive, it can cause family problems meaning you can get in fights if your family members don’t want to hear if you have a disorder or not. Also it can cause worrisome problems in people. For example my opinion, I don't want to have stress in my life.

My opinion did not change from before I read the article. I would still get genetic testing done. In the article it says, “Doctors say that genetic testing can be very effective in determining the best medicines for someone with a defined disease.” If I could know that I had the possibility of one day having a disease I would want to. I’d rather live with the stress of knowing rather than not knowing. In the article it also says, “The DNA can be collected from a blood sample or from a person’s saliva.” It’s an easy spit in the cup to find out if you may or may not have a certain gene. In conclusion, I would still get genetic testing done.

I would get the genetic testing if a had an option because it will tell me if I have a disease that I have to cure or not. In the article, the doctors have found that genetic testing can also help to find the right medicide for particular deseases. Highingling the fact that the person tested may also give information about his or her relatives means you might even save your sibling’s life by having this information. Weighing both sides of the argument, the advantages of getting tested outweigh the disadvantages.

My opinion did not change from before. I would get genetic testing. The reason it didn't change is because if there was a way that I could be treated but they needed to know if I carried it I would take it. Even if something could not be cured I would still get a test to see if I had it and get medicine to maybe prevent it. Or not make it any worse. If something could be cured that my brother or sister might have I would want to know so I can help both of us.

If I were to figure out that I had an illness the genetic testing could help doctors find the right medicine to help me. If I thought that I needed to get tested I could get tested by a doctor, and health care could pay for it. Genetic testing helps determine if someone is sick so it would make sense to get it done if you are at risk.

I wouldn’t want to get tested because it may increase my anxiety and make me worried about a possible disease I could get in the future. Another reason why I wouldn’t want to get tested is because I don’t want to worry my family members.

From the start, I would say yes for genetic testing. I like to know things and make sure I have an answer if anything goes wrong. I don’t think it would cause needless worries either. There are more pros than cons. In the article it states, ”People get many diseases because of their genes. So genetic testing can help prevent, spot or treat a disease much better.” This shows that genetic testing can help prevent disease. Knowing that I might have a certain disease that I can pass on to my kids, I can tell the doctors so they can find an easier way to prevent and treat the disease. Overall, it might be expensive but it will help with my future and make things a bit easier down the road.

At the beginning, I thought it would be important to get tested. When I saw some of the pros and cons, I realised that it wasn’t that important, mainly because of these quotes, “The cost varies widely, from $99 home kits to thousands of dollars for hospital tests. The price also changes depending on which disease the doctor is looking for.” and “The testing is also improving quickly. The X-ray machine made it possible to look inside the human body. Now, genetic testing is changing the way doctors test for and treat diseases.” This is why I think that it isn’t as important.

The article states,” Genetic testing involves looking at a person’s genes to help prevent, diagnose or treat a disease.” This shows how crucial genetic testing could be to someone being treated. Though testing may cause anxiousness, it is better to know any possible diseases in your gene than to pretend that no problems exist in your body.

yes, I think getting tested is way more beneficial. If there is a chance you might have a genetic disease then getting tested will not only tell you if you do or don’t have it, it will help find the right medicine to help cure it. Really the only cons to this is the price or the idea of getting worried which isn’t really a real reason. If you carry this disease and you don’t get tested for it just because you were too worried, it can make your disease even worse and you won’t be able to get help for it.
