Some funders are not as open to wellbeing and health - so

Nuffield Foundation- different streams Educations, Social Welfare could be a possible source of funding

UKRI cross council - can be interdisciplinary research team.

ESRC - would be suitable too needs 50% social sciences, but would it fit with the overall aspiration of the discussions today, we may go beyond this remit.

Do we look at funding body that is particularly interested and then build the application around this.

ESRC you would need to narrow the disciplinary angle to ensure your application is reviewed appropriately.

Could lead with concepts of wellbeing - and how does technology fit within that?

Possibly applying for some networking funding to help develop and input from external or wider partners.

Challenge is the speed of change of technology, by the time the research is completed it could be outdated by new Technology applications.

Broader than a conceptual concept - Flourishing measurements.

It is such a huge area to tackle, do you focus on a specific Technology or specific population?

Eg Mapping a digital ecosystem for adolescences??

Next Steps:

1) UoB funding for a Network+ £50k over 12months could help really define the idea around wellbeing.

(Need further more focussed workshops)

2) Possibly need to bring in tech companies or voice of industry/corporates. Carefully need to consider the role of these companies within the research - could they try and influence the research to support their own agenda.

(Need training of how to maximise the opportunity with Google/Meta but without compromising the research or brining about conflicts of interest or losing academic integrity.

3) Reflections from today what is the key ideas or research questions, share these with the group.
