This morning in class, we all watched The Little Mermaid, and I know this might sound a bit weird, but I believe this movie is my new favorite film to watch. I could relate to the main character since she had a passion for something particular before falling in love, which I do, too. The Little Mermaid is a story about identity and the struggle to find one's place. The main character, Ariel, a young mermaid, wants to be part of the human world, even though her father, King Triton, forbids it. Ariel's journey highlights the importance of self-expression and the struggle to be heard. This desire for transformation also comes with a cost. To become human, she must give up her voice.
