This scene was so memorable because Johnny was loved, cared for by all the greasers and not one person believed that out of all them would Johnny be the first to die. Another reason this scene is so memorable is the fact that at this point in the novel Dally was very attached to Johnny and lots could have guessed what Dally was feeling. My last reason I think this scene is so memorable is because it shows how close Johnny and Ponyboy  have gotten not only as friends but also as family. When Johnny told Pony to stay himself; meaning they have spent time getting to know each other and the whole gang too. For all those reasons this is the most memorable scene for me.
