Fast Food

In America they love fastfood. The country doesn't only have McDonalds, Burger King and KFC just like here in the Netherlands, no, they have another fifty fast food restaurants. America has more than 150,000 different fast food restaurants. From chips to tacos to pancakes. You can almost do not come up with something and it will exist there in America. A disadvantage of all these restaurants full of delights is that it leads to the frequent occurrence of obesity. In America there is 27 percent of men and 34 percent of all women suffer from obesity. According to the Centers for Disease Control (the research institute of the government) obesity is now the second leading cause of death in the United States. The bad food including a combination of few sports leads to 400,000 deaths annually. Only tobacco makes more victims. Another typical american thing is the fact that the portions in America are enormously huge. You get a whole liter of Coke with your meal and the burgers are almost 350 grams each. In America, the fast food restaurants are actually a problem. Through these restaurants there are many people who are living a very unhealthy life. Watch the attached video, then you are cured of fast food... At least, I do!

Dead Penalty

In most states in America, the death penalty is still in use. This is in even !! 37 !! of the 50 states. In total, tens of thousands of people in America already died by the death penalty. But now it appears to be that the United States of America is facing a problem... Namely the fact that there is a great shortage of the lethal injections, which is used in carrying out the death penalty. There are certain companies that expressed their opposition to producing the execution resources (probably because they want to abolish the death penalty). Therefore, America must look for other resources that they can use during the death penalty. America is now looking for solutions like: the electric chair (electrocution) and maybe even again firing squad. All sort of bad things ...The people who objected against the injections probably did this because there was a problem with the same kind of injection in 2014 which caused much fuss. The infusion of the lethal injection came loose during the execution. The result was that the prisoner died after 43 minutes of a heart attack. This failure naturally led to 'waiting for death'. Only the death penalty itself is scary, but if you also have to wait for it to happen... I think it's inhumane.

I also think that if you are visiting America, you must do so by RV. I've been for four weeks in America and I think the best way of traveling was by RV. I will tell you why!

The advantages of a motorhome during a tour of America:

1. You can travel at your own pace. Discover America at your own pace, you do not have any consideration with others. Draw your own plan!

2. There are plenty of others who have gone before you, so there is enough on the Internet about it, like routes that you can drive and tips with beautiful places to sleep, etc.

3. You can (up to 3500 kg) just drive a motorhome with a B license and it drives quite easily in a small camper.

4. You can sleep during the constant drive in the top of the UV.

5. While driving you can just sit at the table with other people (of course if someone else is driving) to play games. So the time goes quickly.

6. With a camper you can decide exactly how long you stay at a certain place. Do you think for example Las Vegas is super cool, you just stay another night extra.

7. A camping (the nightpitch of the UK) is much nicer in comparison with a hotel, much more cosy!

Santa Monica Pier

Another place in America that has made a big impression to me was the Santa Monica pier. This pier I always knew from the children's TV series "Rocket Power" and a lot of different movies. When I saw this pier in reality I found this really cool. The pier is located in the city Santa Monica itself and at the pier is built an amusement park (including a roller coaster, a carousel, arcades and many restaurants). The Santa Monica pier originally composed of two different piers. One was made for the disposal of sewage pipes and the other was later built to built the amusement park (Pacific Park) on it. In 1938 the two piers were connected with each other by a bridge and an access point. In 1953 Santa Monica (the city) purchased the pier. Actually, it was also the intention to demolish the pier in the sixties. They wanted to put an artificial pier in its place and then they wanted to build a large hotel. However, the residents of Santa Monica protested and the demolition was cancelled. To this day, the old pier is still there. If you walk to the end of the pier, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. You can see birds and if you are lucky you even see a shark, sea lion or seal.
