During there protest they where shooting guns and marching down the street. When they reached Dallas Texas Hall they poured kerosene all over the american flag. While the flag was burning Gregory Johnson and his group of friends Shouted, "America, the red, white, and blue, we spit on you." People did not got hurt. 
     While they were burning the flag he got arrested and was charged with violating Texas law. He appealed his case because he said he his rights were in the first amendment, as a form of symbolic speech and was not charged with any charges.

So they could get to there all black school. There was a closer school but it was white only. The family thought this violated the 14th amendment. The case eventually went to the supreme court they decided that The school would never be equal to each other. The supreme court decided it violated the 14th amendment.

Gideon could not afford a lawyer and asked if the court could appoint one for him because the sixth amendment entitles everyone a lawyer. T judge denied and he had to defend himself. He did a bad job and was found guilty and went to prison. Gideon studied law in prison and found out his rights were violated. Gideon wrote a petition to the supreme court from his cell for a rehear and supreme court agreed. Gideon was smart and was smarter than that judge. Gideon had a lawyer for his second trial and was released and free.
