This shows that Mama is a very empathetic person who will make a fool of herself just so she doesn't upset someone's feelings. Mama shows on page 124 of "A Raisin in the Sun" that she loves her family and will stand up for them no matter what. Mama always has kind words to make someone's heart warm. This quote shows that Mama can be sturdy or unmoving when it comes to her opinions and her thoughts about something. Even though Mama has a soft spot for her family, she can also kick things into high gear and get everyone moving. This statement proves that Mama has absolute power and will enforce that on others, this combined with being stubborn makes a good leader, but also a pain to reason with. On many occasions, Walter tries to reason with her about different things, but Mama remains unmoved. Mama is always gentle and kind with the kids and family, but doesn't mess around when it comes to other things. Coming from a time and place where life was hard and always working, Mama holds her pride almost above all else. Wanting nothing else in life but her family, Mama is truly a simple and pure being. When I think of the colour blue and pink together I think of calmness and serenity, I believe that Mama sees the best things in life and can see the beauty in everything. When I see this image I can picture Mama in a rocking chair next to the tree with her arms folded and just taking in the peacefulness and appreciating her life, feeling proud that she is where she is considering her origins. This poem relates to Mama for it describes that even though the author has seen the harshness of the past, will not be hindered, for she will be forever moved by her goal; her family. Mama has suffered from the cruelty of history and wants one thing, her family to be happy and together. Mama has endured the worst of the worst and yet no matter how much hatred and evil she's seen, she is never detoured, she pushes on for nothing can stop her. Nu hoef je nooit je jas meer aan te trekken,
en te hopen dat je licht het doet.
Laat buiten de stormwind nu maar razen,
in het donker.
want binnen is het warm en licht en goed!
Hand in hand naar buiten kijken waar de regen valt, 
ik ziet het vuur van hoop en twijfel in je ogen!

The songs describes the perfect life and though that seems impossible, as the title says "I believe in you and me" meaning that the man believes that together, they can do anything. This relates to Mama for she had a dream as a little girl to provide her family with everything they want. She believes that together, Walter Lee Sr. and her will/can accomplish anything, and in my opinion, they did. Many times in the world, people chase their dreams only to hit with the wall of reality and give up. There are people who climb the wall however, those people often fall and fail, but never losing inspiration. In the play "A Raisin in the Sun" the Younger family are given a dream, but are halted by the wall of reality. 

 “Man say to his woman: I got me a dream. His woman say: Eat your eggs. Man say: I got to take hold of this here world, baby! And a woman will say: Eat your eggs and go to work. Man say: I got to change my life, I’m choking to death, baby! And his woman say – Your eggs is getting cold!” [page 33,34] 

This quote relates to the theme of "Dreams v.s Reality" by reinforcing that some people stop when they hit the wall (i.e. Ruth saying to eat your eggs for she knows Walters dream is beyond reasonable and won't come true) and how some people continue to climb (i.e. Walter never giving up even though he has been put down a lot). Mama is a pure example of climbers; she went through slavery, traveled across seas, fell in love, and made a family for herself, she works even in her old age, and she never complains for she knows it will only slow her down. Assuming all of this, none of it would/has been easy for her. Mama struggles to keep her family on their feet for money is tight even with 4 people working. Mama has been struck with many arrows yet she climbs, she has fallen many times, yet she climbs. This proves that dreams can get over that wall of reality with determination, nothing more.
