She explains that “It was a card, by means of punching holes in certain places meant certain things. It went into a  big system, where a machine would read the hole punches". She said that she had to go to a school for 3 days to learn how to properly perform the job. She stated that "the initial shock, you know, was a lot to take in. It was a mental thing, I suppose".
