Are parents ever on the school news in the morning? That could possibly be an opportunity to share a part of their culture (read a story, sing a song/play music, model clothing, a quick mini cooking lesson, etc). It could even align with the months that we’re celebrating/highlighting different cultures.

The new parents bill of rights—is there concern that as we work towards creating a culturally inclusive environment for all, that some people/groups will feel excluded?

Elon Park Elementary School is a collaborative community of staff-team, students, and families working together to create an engaged, and culturally-aware educational institution. Together, our mission is to provide a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment in a diverse school setting. At EPES, students develop a love of learning and strive to be their best selves, where they work alongside the support of our staff-team, and their families.

E - Engage in challenging learning experiences everyday.

P - Provide a positive and safe environment where all children feel loved and accepted.

E - Empower critical thinking and communication skills and perspectives to develop independent and active thinkers.

S - Set attainable expectations for students and teachers to continue to grow and reach their full potential.

(Nothing really, just added the word "in" under letter E and then added period. But I really think this VISION is the best pick, if we need to make a choice.) Thank you! (Anja) ^_^

National Costume Runway Show

Kids can sign up to walk for a simple runway show, where they can represent their countries and wear their national costume. Also they can even bring a tiny printed flag on a stick. Just an idea. (Anja) ^_^
