The way I believe we could fix such brutality is training police officers to handle each altercation of the same severity and urgency.

Removing lethal weapons from police. They did this in Iceland and there have been little to no deaths because of this.

Assessing an officer's biases and racial stereotypes yearly so that if there were officers with such behaviors they will be removed from the force. Upon removal re education should be legally required so that we can continue to remove racist ideas from society.

Teaching non-lethal de-escalation techniques, firemen are taught this and haven't killed anyone so police should be able to as well.

Lastly, have assessments on police departments on how they handle complaints and internal corruption. A large part why racist officers are allowed to continue this violence is because their higher ups are also racist and excuse this behavior. Therefore more diversity in the police departments is more than necessary.

I would also like to say that because our judicial system was created by racists to benefit the white race we should completely overturn it.

We could measure if this grievance is fixed by seeing how many complaints there are, how many deaths have taken place, surveying minorities and their communities to understand what changes they have or haven’t seen and looking at the results of the tests and the amount of officers failing being removed from the force and if they aren’t then there needs to be an investigation opened regarding that department.

The grievances that black people have regarding education are surrounding the lack of safe and supportive educational environments that represent minorities and the failure to actually teach the black youth in any capacity. In the Kerner report it states, "The bleak record of public education for ghetto children is growing worse. In the critical skills-verbal and reading ability-black students fall further behind whites with each year of school completed.”

There is also a major problem with segregation, meaning that black students are in school with no funding or efficient education while whites are in private and rich schools with advanced and involved teachers.

To fix the grievances caused by the lack of proper systems in place there needs to be affirmative action to stop segregation, the “neighborhood school” policy should be completely removed which will fix both overcrowding and to an extent having mainly one race in different schools, teachers need to be taught to care for black students and impoverished individuals instead of resenting them, there needs to be a more up to date curriculum that effectively teaches all kids no matter the race, a lot more school funding and distribution of resources along with these resources being more accessible they should also interest minorities by having books and media that reflects their life's not just whites lives.

To measure whether or not this grievance is being fixed should surround funding, graduation rates, surveying black parents and if they think the education is sufficient this should include black students as well, how many students there are per classroom, and the populations of races in schools.  By conducting studies around this it should allow clear conclusions on whether or not the grievance is fixed.

Unemployment and Underemployment:

One of the most serious complaints, discriminatory behaviors cause unemployment/underemployment for people of color

Relevant today because instances of discrimination in businesses and other companies can still be found

Inadequate Housing:

Situations of overcrowding, as well as discrimination in sales and rentals

Relevant today as seen in housing cost burdens in various races, poverty statistics, etc. 

Inadequate Education: 

Segregation in education systems, failure to teach black history, lack of representation on the board

Percentage of minorities in high-poverty schools, continued lack of representation, etc.

I believe that the police practices grievances are the most relevant today because of the extreme amount of modern day incidents that have been brought to light.
