I see this every day @ Santa Maria High School. Our students are behind in a technologically current classroom. They can use their tablets to play games, but they do not know how to use them productively. Something needs to change!

That makes a lot of sense, but how do we combat the distraction of hi tech devices in the classroom? And most teachers can't even keep their projectors running, so how can they be expected to manage a class full of technology?

I agree that we need to update our classrooms to keep up with our technology.

When students feel the disconnect between their world and school, they do not feel comfortable. It is amazing to see the difference in my classroom when students are allowed to use technology they are comfortable with. They gain a confidence that was lacking beforehand.

This is far too true in our public school system today.

I notice this at my site. My cooperating teacher and I lack in our knowledge of current technology, so at times, in the future, there could be a disconnect.
